Family-Friendly Office
Walking into their office is like attending a
Hollywood premiere complete with the life-sized characters of Spider-Man,
Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, and many beloved actors. There’s a genuine movie
theatre, a slushie machine, a cappuccino bar, and an Under-the-Sea-themed
section for little ones. There’s free Wi- Fi, TVs at the clinical chairs, and
a game station with the latest, cool video games.
All this fun
began with lifelong actress, singer, and kid-at-heart Dr. Stephanie Crise.
(Who was also valedictorian at Baylor Dental School and Magna Cum Laude at
Texas A&M University.) “When I started my McKinney office over twenty
years ago, I wanted to share my love of movies and theatre with my patients
and give them a place where going to the orthodontist could be fun,” she
said. “They really seem to love it.”

For the Smiles Hollywood Orthodontic team,
customer service is first and foremost. “We want our patients to feel like
this is their home-away-from-home,” Dr. Crise says. “Our goal is to know our
patients personally and treat them like family. You’re not just a patient at
Smiles Hollywood; you’re a ‘star’ and it’s our job to make you feel like

convenience, they offer extended office hours, so patients
won’t miss a lot of school or
work to see the orthodontist. They keep things fun with frequent rewards programs and prizes for
their patients and a popular golf-cart “shuttle” for patients attending
Dowell Middle School.
Early
Intervention Is Key
The American Association of Orthodontists
recommends children be seen for an initial orthodontic exam by age seven.
When patients are seen early (7-11 years), there’s a window of opportunity to
redirect skeletal growth easily with a variety of appliance options and
without surgery or tooth extractions. This initial exam is completely
free.
Both Dr. Crise and Dr. Downs are experienced in
surgical orthodontics (orthognathic surgery) to correct severe cases
including severe overbite and more difficult jaw problems. But early
intervention can often alleviate the need for aggressive
treatment.

Since no two patients are the same, Dr. Crise
and her associate, Dr. Jessica Downs, offer a variety of options, from the
newest high-tech braces, such as Damon and In-Ovation braces, clear/invisible
braces, and Invisalign/clear tooth aligners. “We spend time with patients
educating them about their options and the benefits of each, then help them
decide which is right for them,” Dr. Crise said. “We also offer affordable
treatment plans and downpayment assistance.”
Collaboration
“Because we consult on every case, our
patients have a built-in second opinion,” Dr. Crise said. “Two heads are
better than one. Because Dr. Downs and I are both so detail-oriented, we
often hear from dentists that our patients’ finished smiles stand out and
they notice the difference. We employ the latest, cutting-edge technology and
digital imaging for the success and comfort of our patients.”
Community-Minded
The Smiles Hollywood Orthodontic team
supports the Samaritan Inn Homeless Shelter by sponsoring an annual
candy-buy-back program. Dr. Crise also sponsors annual food, socks, and
paper-goods drives for local charities and gives of her time visiting
elementary schools to educate students on the importance of brushing,
flossing, and overall good dental hygiene.

Ages
It’s not
just kids finding excellence in orthodontics at Smiles Hollywood. Both adult
and teen patients love Smiles Hollywood’s options for Invisalign/Clear tooth
aligners and “invisible” braces. “Clear Aligners are good options for
patients who don’t want traditional metal braces,” Dr. Crise said. “But
surprisingly, many adult patients opt for braces since the newer clear braces
are extremely beautiful. And we have a special private section of our office
