How can I stand out if my market is already super crowded?

First, stop trying to blend in. So many businesses unknowingly play copycat — offering the same messaging, visuals, and experiences as their competitors. If you want to stand out, you have to own what makes you different. That could be your process, your personality, your pricing model, your results — whatever it is, shine a spotlight on it. And remember, clarity always wins over cleverness. Be bold and crystal clear about what problem you solve better than anyone else.

Do I need a blog, or is that old-school marketing now?

A blog isn’t old-school — a bad blog is. Smart blogging is still a powerful tool for driving traffic, building trust, and helping your site rank on Google. If you’re writing content that answers real questions your customers have, shares valuable insights, and positions you as the authority in your space, you’re doing it right.

How long does it take to start seeing results from a new marketing strategy?

It depends on your goals and your market, but generally, expect real traction to take 90 to 180 days. Good marketing isn’t microwaveable — it’s more like slow-roasting something amazing (with multiple ingredients). You can see early indicators that you’re on the right track within weeks (like more website traffic, social engagement, or leads coming in), but real brand growth takes consistent effort, data-driven adjustments, and patience. Quick wins are great, but long-term success is the goal. Our team follows a process called the 4 C’s of Effective Marketing. I cover it in detail in my book. Once I get a lead, what’s the next best step to make a sale?

Speed and clarity. Follow up quickly (within hours if possible) and make the next step easy for the lead. That might be a quick discovery call, a clear proposal, or sending them straight to an easy checkout or booking page. Most importantly, listen more than you talk — your goal is to show them you understand exactly what they need and can solve it better than anyone else. People buy from businesses they trust and who make the process feel effortless.

How can I use email marketing to stay connected to my list?

Think of your email list like a vegetable garden. If you don’t water it, it withers. But when tended, it produces food. In this case, for your business. Stay connected to your customers by offering value before you ask for a sale. Share quick tips, helpful resources, success stories, and even behind-the-scenes glimpses of your business. Consistency is key — whether it’s once a week or once a month, show up. At Far Beyond Marketing, we recommend two different types of email lists: a nurture drip and a sales drip. Both follow the StoryBrand methodology of creating value for your readers in each email.
