Another common cause is having too many fatty and/or sugary foods and not eating enough protein and fiber. Why Is It Important To Have A Healthy Weight?

A healthy weight will decrease your overall risk for many chronic conditions and diseases Americans struggle with later in life. This can include diabetes, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and more. In our practice, we take everyone’s weight, but it can vary on how physically active you are, your individual body type, and even your gender. With that being said, we use a more in-depth approach to achieving a healthier weight by using bloodwork and body fat percentages instead for a more accurate depiction of where you should be.

What Should I Buy At The Grocery Store?

Beans and lentils are one of my favorites to recommend because they’re a cheap option for a great source of fiber, carbohydrates, and protein. I suggest adding a variety into your diet, including black beans, red kidney, garbanzo, red lentils, and pinto. Other foods, like mushrooms, soy products, whole grains, and whole wheat are always a great addition to your diet because of how they work in the body and promote a healthier and well-rounded system.

Why Do Some Weight-Loss Treatments Work Better For Others And Not Me?

It’s not as straightforward as most people think and can be due to our upbringing with food, how much physical activity you do daily, your gut microbiome, how much muscle you have on you, and lifestyle habits. Basically, everyone is different. But this shouldn’t discourage you. The body is very good at learning and adapting to new foods and lifestyles. 

How Much Activity Should I Have A Day To Have A Healthy Lifestyle?

Going on a morning walk is a fantastic way to stay active. But most people then go to work and sit at a desk for the rest of the day. With that in mind, I usually recommend taking a walk for at least half your lunch, adding an evening/sunset walk for about an hour, and incorporating a couple of water aerobics classes and/or bike rides throughout the week to mix up your activities and keep it fun.
