Q&A

What Should I Look For In A Roofing Company?

I think time in business is one of the most important considerations. There are roofing companies starting up every day saturating the market. With today’s technology it’s easy to give the appearance you’ve been around for years. Do your research on any company you’re considering. I’m not asking to be your only call, but I’d like to be one of them. It takes years to develop the kind of relationships we have with our distributors and manufacturers, the type of relationship where, if we or our customers ever need help, they’ll stand with us to accomplish what we need.

How Long Have You Been In Business?

Acme Roof Systems is celebrating our 28th year in business and we’ve had the same roof installers for over 25 years — some since our inception. That’s almost unheard of in this industry. Not only does that demonstrate their professional commitment, but it shows our loyalty to them, treating them like we’d like to be treated. After decades, this group is like family and they are so appreciated. We’re proud to say over 60% of our business is from repeat customers or referrals. We have customers that we not only installed their roof, but their parents’ roof and now their children’s roofs. We’ve also roofed entire neighborhoods because of our professionalism, cleanliness during and after the project, and communication with homeowners.

What Are Some Other Ways To Vet A Roofing Company?

Unfortunately, the state of Texas doesn’t require a roofing license. You should ask to see their insurance documentation and a recent referral list. Look for their Better Business Bureau rating and read online reviews. (We are A+ BBB rated with hundreds of five-star reviews on many platforms) Get everything in writing and no work should start until you have a signed contract. There are very few circumstances where you should ever have to pay any money up front. The company should be financially stable enough not to expect payment until the job is complete. The only exception may be a custom order.

What Can I Expect As Far As Time And Disruption?

Every project is different, but most are completed in one day. Materials aren’t delivered until the morning of the job. Nothing is left on your property overnight. Because communication between the client and our team is key, every project has a project manager. Homeowners always know when we’re coming and have a clear timeline of when we’ll be done. Your project will be properly managed and kept clean and organized throughout the process. We are always available to answer any questions about their project including questions about the insurance claim process.

What Kind Of Warranty Should I Expect?

A standard roofing warranty is five years on labor and a limited-lifetime on materials. Because we are GAF Master Elite Certified — only 2% of roofing contractors in North America hold this certification — we can offer a Golden Pledge warranty, which is a lifetime coverage on materials and a 25-year labor warranty.
