On July 25, Dr. Buchanan Orthodontics teamed up with Rack Room Shoes of McKinney to provide 112 pairs of new shoes for the Collin County Boys and Girls Clubs students. “It is such a blessing to help these amazing kids shop for a new pair of shoes to start the school year off on the right foot.” Giving students confidence and the ability to participate in school athletics is critical.” said Dr. Buchanan.
In 2022 Dr. Jennifer Buchanan was selected as the 2022 Great Texan Award recipient for her dedication and service to the Boys and Girls Club.
Over the last 27 years, Dr. Buchanan has supported the Club with toy drives, dental health education, and fundraising. In 2014, she started the Shoes for Smiles program to provide new athletic shoes for the Boys and Girls Club kids to begin the school year. Each year she takes 100 plus Boys and Girls
Club kids shopping to let them select their shoes. To date, over 1200 new pairs of shoes have been provided while recycling over 42,000 pounds of used clothing and shoes.“This is truly a community effort, said Buchanan. I am grateful for the support of my family, my office team, my patients and their families, Rack Room Shoes, and all of the volunteers. Their support has made the Shoes for Smiles program a success.”
