We imagined a charm bracelet to represent Deborah Diviney. An ally to North Texas home buyers and sellers, Diviney brings her 24 years as a real estate agent to bear on the hunt for properties. Also, an experienced listings agent, she focuses on the luxury market with a meticulous eye for details. She also educates clients on any questions with a kind teacher’s patience. As a child raised on a military base, she relishes working with veterans and those moving from out of state.

Apple, Magnifying Glass

Jingling against the other charms, we imagined an apple dangling from a chain. The fruit would recall her time as a sociology and civics teacher. Back then, she was only a few years older than her students, who dressed just like her. Diviney only worked in schools briefly, but her instructor’s skills would come in handy later.

Next on the braided band, a magnifying glass would stand for Diviney’s time as a liability adjuster inspecting insurance claims. Though she found herself climbing roofs and peering at water heaters, among other important home items, her job was to ask questions, something like a gumshoe on the case. That eye for the details and a sharp probing mind help Diviney make intuitive but highly accurate appraisals of client needs based on diligent studies of their needs.

House, Plane

“I love working with first-time homebuyers,” said the North Carolina-born agent. A shining house charm bauble, naturally, would represent real estate. Like a consummate educator, Diviney decodes each step in the home-buying process, including industry jargon, for clients. Diviney, who also teaches fellow real estate agents, always carefully explains things. Her goal for clients is that they feel comfortable.

Next, a charming antique airplane would represent the clients who relocate from out of state, whether they are veterans, like Diviney’s Navy veteran father, or professionals. These are the ones who benefit the most from an agent who knows her area, since they often have less time to find their property. In Texas for nearly 30 years, Diviney has made it her mission to understand where she can find great features that make a house a home, from kitchen islands, pools and outdoor living spaces, to school districts, HOAs, and local golf courses.

“You get to know personalities and what they’re looking for,” she said. “You have to listen to your instincts that say, ‘I think you want to see this.’ I’ve taken a client to properties like that and seen the husband walk in and say, ‘This is it!’ The wife might say, ‘You’ve only seen the foyer,’ but he says, ‘I don’t need to.’” That innate sense for client needs, built from years of scrutinizing details, sets Diviney apart, linking her life’s work in a chain of excellent, client-centered service.
