If good habits start early, then Keerstyn Houston-Davis is on track for success. When we first checked in with the Dallas-area Realtor, we learned about her 4 AM wakeup time. Three years later, she still doesn’t need her alarm, but she has sold quite a few more properties.
Just recognized by her brokerage as the top producer for the month of March, Houston-Davis said the best part of work is meeting people and helping to make them happy. If it’s a commercial high-rise in Dallas, a residential starter home in Plano, or a ranch further out that the client has their heart set on, Houston-Davis can find them something perfect. The early bird always gets the worm, so to speak.
Morning Person
Houston-Davis knocks out two hours of work before her children stir, but her habit of productivity began early in life. As a young woman, she clocked in for short stints in retail, personal banking, and even at her parent’s ice rink in Addison, where she once met the Dallas Stars. Even then, she told us, her pursuits were influenced by her mother, Karen Houston-Holloway, the owner of three businesses in
Quinlan, Texas.
Like mom, Houston-Davis always felt “extremely motivated” and driven. When her parents pledged to match funds she saved up to put towards the purchase of her first car, it encouraged her, but Houston-Davis was chasing a sense of accomplishment. “When I was younger, I just knew that I wanted to be successful and help people,” she said.
After a few terms in college, the future Realtor decided to clock out on a typical nine to five and strike out on her own. Being a self-starter, she developed personal guideposts for success and honed career skills in the real world. As a real estate agent, she never forgot her mother’s guidance, especially about getting a jump on the day.
Where the Heart Is
There’s no nanny. A jam-packed schedule has led some friends to assume Houston-Davis employs one, but the powerhouse juggles career and childcare between herself and her husband with joy. Home is where Houston-Davis’ four kids keep the house buzzing. When little 13-year-old Tristan, 9-year-old Payton, 7-year-old Tommy John, and 3-year-old Stacey clear out for school, Houston-Davis tackles contracts and showings. While her husband, Tommy, commutes to work, Houston-Davis stays near the ranch, lends her mother a hand, and lately, dedicates time to mentoring another real estate agent. After the kids are asleep, she wraps up her day.
Alongside her mother, Houston-Davis helps young ones get a leg up where needed through the White Star Wishes foundation. By giving back to families with young children, she keeps a focus on the importance of early-life experiences of community care, snowballing the effects of that embrace and modeling good habits for her family. Refreshed by those efforts, she gets back to work.
