These days more than ever, Dr. Jennifer Buchanan is feeling grateful. After 27 years at the helm of Dr. Buchanan Orthodontics, she’s watched her practice grow as young patients head off to college, marry, then return with their own children.
As October marks another Orthodontic Health Month, Dr. Buchanan welcomes patients of all ages — with her oldest patients being in their 80s — who understand that straightening their teeth is about more than a gorgeous smile. “Of course, we can make your smile everything you want it to be aesthetically,” Dr. Buchanan said. “But properly aligned teeth are also easier to keep clean and less prone to wear and breaking. Moving teeth into their proper position also opens up airways, so we’re able to eliminate snoring and sleep disruption.”
There’s yet another reason orthodontic treatment is popular at any age. Many of Dr. Buchanan’s older patients notice their smiles narrowing and collapsing, as they age. Dr. Buchanan received the 2022 Great Texan Award for her dedication and service to the Boys and Girls Club for whom she also organizes toy drives, dental health education, and other fundraisers. She also involves her patients in honoring our national heroes since a portion of all treatment fees at Dr. Buchanan Orthodontics go toward paying off mortgages for wounded veterans in our area.
