Dr. Shilpa Chandiwal has always had a special place in her heart for children. A board-certified pediatric dentist, she enjoys working with each young patient, particularly those with special needs. “It’s my passion and specialty,” she says. “My staff and I are focused on making every child’s dental experience as pain-free and pleasant as possible.”
A child’s ability to cooperate and respond to Dr. Chandiwal is important during treatment. Conscious sedation such as nitrous oxide and oral sedation help calm children’s anxiety while still keeping them conscious, alert, and capable of response. An overly anxious child may require stronger treatment modalities administered in a hospital setting, including IV sedation and general anesthesia. In addition to regular checkups and cleanings, Dr. Chandiwal offers laser dentistry for soft tissue procedures, including tongue and lip tie.
Her desire to work with children led her to pursue advanced training in pediatric dentistry at Columbia University, New York. She graduated with honors, receiving her DDS degree and certificate for excellence in pediatric dentistry.
To better accommodate patients, Dr. Chandiwal’s Sugar Land practice has recently moved to a larger, state-of-the-art facility, located at the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 6.
