From his earliest memories Dr. W. Marshall Guy always knew he wanted to be a doctor, and he brings the same dedication and perfection to his practice that he brought to his education. After graduating number one in his high school, University of Texas, and Baylor College of Medicine, he went on to complete a highly competitive residency program at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed his fellowship in facial plastic surgery before returning to The Woodlands, where he founded Dr. Guy Facial Plastic Surgery with the same standard of excellence in mind.

Double Board Certified

Dr. Guy is a double board certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon. As a facial plastic surgeon, all his training and surgeries are on the face and neck areas allowing him to be a master in his craft. To be board certified requires both written and oral tests as well as examination of case logs and all surgeries he performs over a year’s time. Being board certified provides reassurance to his patients that he is highly qualified. Remaining board certified by two boards requires quarterly assessments of knowledge, which means Dr. Guy continues his education, keeping up with the latest innovations in his field.

Dr. Guy’s specialization in facial plastic surgery has given him a wealth of experience in deep plane preservation face lifts, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, endoscopic brow lifts, and really all treatments to improve the appearance of the face and neck.

He puts great effort into making sure each patient understands the surgery they have chosen and knows exactly what to expect throughout the process including recovery and healing.

What to Expect from Consultation Day

“Our consultations are no-pressure visits,” Dr. Guy says. “We use that first visit as an introduction to provide the patient with helpful information, far more than they can glean from an internet search, based on what procedures they are interested in having. Additionally, we will create a custom plan based on the individual’s anatomy, knowing there is no one-size-fits-all approach to facial rejuvenation. Most importantly, we truly listen to each patient to make sure we create a plan based on mutual goals and desired outcomes. This helps the patient make an informed decision as to what is the best treatment, whether it is surgery or another option.”

At the end of the first meeting, Dr. Guy provides the patient a book he authored that will give further reference information about the planned procedure. In addition to information sharing and careful preparation for each procedure, Dr. Guy makes it a point to guide you through your recovery.

Scheduling Surgery

Once a patient has elected to undergo surgery, the next step is a second visit with a focus on the specific procedure the patient has chosen. Dr. Guy goes into more depth about what to expect before, during, and after the procedure with plenty of time f
or questions.

“I want my patients to feel confident and comfortable,” Dr. Guy says. “I ask them to show me what they are concerned about rather than pointing out those things myself. I want them to achieve exactly the results they want: a natural look that boosts their self-confidence.”

What to Expect in the Recovery Period

For more involved procedures and those involving the neck, he will request you stay overnight in a hotel with one of his excellent sitters, which allows you and your loved ones to rest easy. The sitters have been trained to take care of his patients to ensure the easiest recovery period.

For those using the sitter option, Dr. Guy will stop by the hotel the evening of your surgery and the morning after to make sure that you are doing well. For those not at the hotel, he calls them from his personal number that night and, for all patients, for the first week. This ensures you have complete access to your surgeon at all times.

For patients undergoing one of his signature deep plane facelifts, you will wear a facial garment the night following the procedure. Dr. Guy will remove the garment the next morning and give you a support garment that will help with cold compresses and healing. Though noticeable discoloration and swelling usually fade away within about 10-14 days, they will likely increase for the first two to three days.

You can return to most of your normal routine within two weeks, but your face and neck may still feel “tight” for a little while longer.
