Jacquie Tracy will be the first to tell you that her husband, Craig, runs the show at Ethridge Auto Center in Colleyville. After all, Craig has been a reliable fixture at the family-run auto shop for 33 years. He started as an auto technician under previous owner, Butch Ethridge, before taking over the shop in 2017. He knows the business and his customers’ vehicles inside and out, and people trust him to keep them safely on the road today, tomorrow, and for years to come.
But Jacquie is also quick to point out that there’s a running joke around the shop: with three women working alongside him, Craig is definitely outnumbered — and they’re the ones who really keep him in line.
“Butch passed this place on to Craig because he knows his stuff and will always do the right thing for customers, but he’s got a few of us ladies to help handle the day-to-day,” Jacquie said with a laugh. “I very much have a behind-the-scenes role, and between our first female service advisor, Wendy Hulahan, and our new office coordinator, Amber Johanning, Craig has his work cut out for him.
“Together, we honor the legacy Butch created when he started Ethridge Auto over 40 years ago.”
Ethridge Auto Center was founded with the simple goal of providing honest, reliable, and affordable auto repair services to the community. As such, they can handle pretty much anything— from routine oil changes and brake repairs to complex transmission and AC system repairs. Customers consistently praise the shop for its efficient and thorough diagnostics, ensuring that each vehicle receives the attention it deserves. On top of that, their reputation for quick service and fair pricing is unmatched.
That mindset began with Butch and carried over to Craig, who was just 27 when they joined forces. Even at that young age, Craig proved that he was cut from the same cloth, having idolized his grandfather, a former aircraft mechanic and hot-rod enthusiast.
Fast forward to today, and the shop is as busy as it’s ever been, thanks to a diverse team of friendly, knowledgeable professionals. Wendy honed her skills at several big-name repair and transmission shops and is celebrating her first full year at Ethridge Auto. Behind the scenes, Jacquie keeps the shop humming on the accounting side, while Amber greets everyone with a friendly smile at the front desk and handles all scheduling and customer support.
“Having three strong females leading the charge is unheard of in the auto industry,” Jacquie said. “Wendy has won over quite a few of our older male clientele with her incredible knowledge and friendly spirit. On top of that, no one here wants women to feel intimidated when they need their vehicles repaired. Amber is the first smiling face you see when you walk in the door, and Craig and Wendy break everything down into terms everyone can understand. We love serving our community.”
