On Thursday mornings, laughter is heard erupting from an old historical building off the square in downtown Rockwall. Inside sit 50 women gathered together to study the Bible. Some have come with friends, others were by themselves when they stepped into the study, but now all are talking and laughing together as they wait for the study to begin.
Tanya Magnus, founder and CEO of Choose to Soar Ministries, steps up to the podium beginning the class with prayer. As she launches into the day’s teaching, the class listens and learns, captivated by the honest teaching of the Word of God. Their time together is marked with humor, insight, and honest conversation with practical applications for their life and faith. They each leave the class empowered to take what they have learned back to their families, friends, and churches. That same evening, Tanya will equip another group of women with the same teaching.
Through those Thursday Bible studies, Encounter Weekends (retreat-style equipping weekends at a country inn in East Texas), and One-Day Encounters (day-long trainings held locally in Rockwall), Choose to Soar equips, empowers, and encourages women to become all God intended. Women have found a place of genuine community where they are able to build authentic friendships and grow exponentially in their relationship with the Lord.
Tammy’s Story: Life Transformation
Tammy, who is slated to graduate from Choose to Soar’s Discipleship Program in September, shared how God radically transformed her life through the teaching and the community she found at Choose to Soar. Old patterns marked with past hurt and cycles of doubt kept her from fully committing to the life God called her to live. She knew she was searching for freedom and for a deeper relationship with God, but she wasn’t sure where to begin.
“From the moment I got involved, I was met with a community of people who not only welcomed me with open arms but also challenged me to grow. The teachings were powerful and practical, helping me understand my identity in Christ and how to let go of the things that were holding me back. The Bible studies and Encounter Weekends provided a safe space to share my struggles and for the first time I felt truly seen and understood.
Through the guidance and support of Choose to Soar and Tanya’s teachings and her team encouraging me with prayer, I have experienced freedom from past wounds and learned how to walk confidently in my purpose. The resources, prayers, and encouragement I received have been life changing. I am no longer defined by my past but am soaring into the future God has for me with faith and boldness.”
Now, Tammy is bold in her faith, sharing her testimony and inviting others to experience the same God who transformed her life from the inside out.
Ana’s Story: Rooted In Truth
Ana, a Choose to Soar Bible study attendee, started following Jesus when she was 35 years old. Now, at 42, after raising her three younger sisters, and in the midst of raising three children, she knew that her heart needed healing from the wound left by her absent parents. She knew that developing an accurate understanding of God’s Word would help her heal and grow as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend.
“I came to Choose to Soar about a year and a half ago. My Bible study leader at that time knew about . Led by God-gifted Tanya Magnus alongside her God-sent team, I immediately registered for the upcoming Bible study. Best decision of my life!
“Choose to Soar is a place of fellowship, personal transformation, mentorship, and discipleship alongside wonderful women of all ages. I can’t begin to put into words the impact CTS has had in my personal growth in Scripture. I’ve learned to live with purpose. I’ve grown deep roots in God’s Word by spending time praying, praising and learning to recognize God’s voice. But the greatest benefit I gained from CTS is learning how to live a Spirit-filled life.”
Kim’s Story: Empowering Families
Last October, a few short months after unexpectedly losing her father, Kim was scrolling through Facebook and stumbled upon a post from Choose to Soar. Without knowing anyone else, she immediately signed up for an Encounter Weekend on grief and rebuilding after loss.
“I was in a safe place, finally able to grieve the loss of my dad among other Christian women who loved on me, prayed with me, and who continue to support me today. I had no idea how close I was to completely losing myself to the losses I had experienced over the years. God helped me realize that I had all the losses on the throne and that I had started to find my identity in them. When I say that CTS has changed the trajectory of my life, God used this ministry to meet me where I was and call me to Him in a way I was closed off to in my grief.”
After her life-changing experience, Kim invited her two daughters (19 and 22) to attend an Encounter Weekend with her.
“We had an amazing weekend together, and that was the start of our relationship growing in sync with how God intends a family to be. I have prayed for years that my girls would experience a life-changing love that only Christ can give, that they might grow in their faith in a big way, and that our family would grow into a family that serves, loves people, disciples openly, and continues to learn about God. Choose to Soar provides an environment and teaching that encourages all of those things.”
