Dr. Cassandra Wilson’s path to audiology began with a simple realization: She wanted something more fulfilling. “I had a job that that wasn’t the right fit anymore, so I decided to further my education,” she says. Drawn to the health sciences, she found her calling in audiology. It’s a field where she can make a difference in people’s daily lives.
Dr. Wilson earned her Doctor of Audiology from Texas Tech University after completing a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wyoming. A native of Canada, she has built her career in Texas since 2000, joining Hearing Services of McKinney in 2010. She’s known not just for her expertise, but for the way she connects with patients.
“I really love what I do,” she says. “I’m able to spend meaningful time with patients and really get to know them.” These conversations often go far beyond hearing health. “My patients become people I truly enjoy seeing and staying connected with,” she says.
That connection matters, especially as research links untreated hearing loss to an increased risk of dementia. “Studies show how hearing loss can significantly increase the risk,” she says. “It’s made more people willing to come in and stay on top of their hearing.”
For Dr. Wilson, every visit is personal. “I might be one of the only people they spend time with that week,” she says. “They want to be heard, and I make sure they are.”
