Dr. Casey Vaccaro, a licensed clinical and school psychologist with experience working in community mental health, grade school and college environments, group, private practice, and family forensic psychology, doesn’t believe healing only happens on a couch. In fact, she says some of the most powerful breakthroughs happen outdoors — sitting at a table in the sunshine or simply moving through real-life moments with her clients.

“The most meaningful moments in my practice don’t always happen in the office,” she says. “They happen in that aha moment, when someone starts stepping into a version of their life they didn’t think was possible.”

Warm and engaging, Dr. Vaccaro offers therapy and testing services for kids, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her concierge model feels less like traditional therapy and more like a deeply personalized wellness experience. “I never want the space to feel overly clinical,” she says. “The second it starts to feel too doctor-patient, we shift. Maybe we go outside, take a walk, or grab a coffee. That’s where the real work happens.”

That philosophy is rooted in both her personality and her training. Dr. Vaccaro earned her Psy.D in school-community psychology from Hofstra University in New York, where she also completed her bachelor’s and master’s, graduating with honors including Provost Scholar and president of the Psi Chi International Honor Society.

Dr. Vaccaro has presented clinical research nationally and internationally and maintains affiliations with organizations such as the American Psychological Association, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, among others.

But ask her what truly defines her work, and she’ll point to something less tangible: connection.

“The relationship piece is everything,” she says. “Research shows that connection is one of the most important drivers of success in therapy. If you don’t have that, the rest doesn’t land.”

It’s why she takes the time to get to know her clients deeply, remembering their stories, their families, and even the small details. Her approach blends evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy with a whole-health, lifestyle-oriented lens. “Thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are always interacting,” she says. “When you learn to shift even one, it creates a ripple effect.”

From collaborating with physicians, schools, and nutritionists to incorporating movement and social connection, her work extends far beyond the therapy session.

A first-generation college graduate from a hardworking Italian family, Dr. Vaccaro credits her upbringing for her drive — and her desire to create something of her own. “I realized I wanted autonomy,” she says. “I didn’t want limits on growth.”

Her thriving Rockwall practice reflects that vision, built largely through word-of- mouth and community trust. Now, she’s growing her team and her space to offer group therapy and shared experiences. “I see a need for connection,” she says. “People want community. They want to feel supported together, and I believe therapy should feel approachable in this way.”

Through it all, her goal remains simple: “I want clients to leave not just feeling understood but equipped.”
