For 10 years, Cherry Bailey has been a friendly, familiar presence at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound. As a long-time volunteer and current gift shop manager, Cherry has poured her time, energy, and compassion into creating a warm and welcoming space for patients, staff, and visitors.

From managing inventory to curating gift items and shopping for supplies, Cherry keeps the gift shop running smoothly and affordably. “We try to be their personal shopper,” she says. “It’s all about making it easier for people who walk through our doors.”

What keeps Cherry coming back week after week? “It’s those times when someone needs extra help,” she says. “When those special needs arise, that keeps me more motivated than anything else I do. Knowing I made a difference in somebody else’s world — that’s what matters.”

Cherry was recently nominated for recognition at the 2025 DFWHC Foundation’s Employee of the Year Luncheon, which celebrates exceptional contributors across North Texas hospitals. “I wouldn’t have been nominated without the other volunteers or the hospital,” she says. “We’re a close-knit group, and that makes all the difference.”

The shop, supported by 12 volunteers, serves not just as a store but as a quiet space to unwind. “Sometimes people just need a break or someone to listen,” Cherry says.

All gift shop profits are returned to the community, including scholarships for graduating seniors. “We love what we do, and we’re here to help,” Cherry says.
