Brigette Koetter, DDS

Brigette Koetter feels lucky to have had outstanding mentors throughout her life, strong women who fed into her personally and professionally. Now, as a dentist and female business owner, it’s her turn to offer support to women coming behind her in her profession.

“As much as things have changed for women, it’s still a challenge to achieve a good work/life balance,” Dr. Koetter said. “It’s important to me that I not only find time to be the best dentist and the best wife and mother I can be, but that I help my staff do the same by creating a flexible work environment that supports work/life integration.”

Staff Development

Dr. Koetter takes seriously her role in helping her staff grow and develop as dental professionals and as women. She also makes herself available to women enrolled at Gene Burton College working toward their registered dental assisting license. “They can only learn so much in the classroom,” Dr. Koetter said. “I provide opportunities for them to shadow me, get real hands-on experience, and interact with real patients.” 

Students range from pre-dental and pre-hygiene to those who become dental assistants right after high school. Dr. Koetter works to help them feel ready to enter the workforce when their time at school is done. One very special pre-dental student who works summers at the practice is Dr. Koetter’s daughter, who she’s thrilled will be following in her footsteps.

Long-time Team Members

All this dedication has garnered loyalty in her staff, with some team members working for Dr. Koetter since she opened her practice 17 years ago. “I’m blessed to work with people who truly love their jobs like I love mine,” Dr. Koetter said. “My staff and I all live in the Rockwall community. We work, play, shop, and worship here. Over the past 17 years, we’ve shared our days together and watched each other’s kids grow up. It’s a joy to come to work with this team every day.”

And those aren’t the only long-term relationships at Dental Professionals of Rockwall. “We care for multiple generations of families, some we’ve seen for over a decade,” Dr. Koetter said. “Nothing is more exciting to us than watching a child grow up in our dental chair, go off to college, marry, then return to bring their own children to be treated by us. We love being their ‘family dentist.’”

Latest Technology

With so many families counting on her, Dr. Koetter takes seriously her job of providing all the dental care they need under one roof. She’s invested in an advanced iTero digital scanner that allows her to quickly and accurately view high-definition 3D images right in the exam room where the patient sees everything she sees. “It registers even the tiniest changes in the teeth and helps patients understand the treatment I’m recommending and visualize treatment outcomes,” she said.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

Another technology that’s got Dr. Koetter’s excited is CEREC same-day crowns. “CEREC crowns provide convenience and ease to our patients,” Dr. Koetter said. “Rather than walking around for weeks with an unreliable, ill-fitting temporary crown while your permanent one is being milled, we’re able to make you a completely customized crown right here in the office while you wait, eliminating the need for multiple dental appointments.” CEREC crowns can correct issues with weak, damaged, chipped, or worn teeth within a single appointment.

Keeping Patients Healthy

Dr. Koetter knows that maintaining optimum oral health is about more than healthy teeth and gums. It’s about overall, systemic health that begins in the mouth. “Oral health is integral to the health of the entire body,” Dr. Koetter said. “Periodontal disease is associated with a number of health conditions, including heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, birth complications, and some types of cancer.”

Your mouth is the gateway to your digestive system, respiratory system, and cardiovascular system. Not only can problems in these areas be detected first in the mouth, but the health of the mouth can directly affect the health of these other systems — for better or for worse. “I want Dental Professionals of Rockwall to be a dental home where my patients come to assure their mouth — and the rest of their body— stays healthy,” Dr. Koetter said.

No Insurance, No Problem

For patients who don’t have access to dental insurance, Dr. Koetter designed a program with affordable access to cleanings, X-rays, and discounted services all for one annual fee. VIP members receive two complimentary cleanings (which can be substituted for periodontal maintenance if deep cleaning is needed), two oral health checkups, one periodontal screening, all diagnostic radiographs (X-rays), complimentary intraoral and professional photos, and a 20% discount on all other dental treatments, including cosmetic makeovers. Patients receive all of this for the cost of two cleanings. For a single individual, the annual cost is only $469; for two people, $749; and for a family (two adults/two children up to age 14), $1,059/year. Additional memberships are $250/year. *

“While this isn’t dental insurance and can’t be combined with dental insurance, it’s a convenient financial option to give you the smile you deserve,” Dr. Koetter said.

When not on the job, Brigette Koetter enjoys time with her three kids, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Feed My Starving Children, Hope Delivered, Special Olympics, and with her son through the Young Men’s Service League.
