Running a successful business takes more than a title — it takes involvement, awareness, and a willingness to step in wherever needed. That’s exactly how Elaine Rosenthal, daughter of company owners Larry and Kathy Everett, approaches her role at Colony Air Conditioning & Heating.

After 17 years with the family-owned company, she has worked in nearly every position, from customer service to dispatch to sales. Today, she functions much like a general manager, guiding daily operations while staying closely connected to both customers and employees.

“No two days look the same,” Elaine says. “But it all comes down to taking care of people and protecting the reputation we’ve built.”

Finding Her Path

Elaine didn’t always plan to join the family business. While earning her marketing degree, she worked at Nordstrom, developing strong customer service skills. After graduation, she stepped in to help during a staffing shortage — and what began as a temporary role soon became something more.

Working in a small business gave her the chance to learn every aspect of the company. Over time, she realized she could make a meaningful impact, not just on the business but on the people it serves.

Leading with Fairness and Empathy

Elaine’s leadership style is rooted in high standards and genuine care for others. She looks at each situation individually rather than relying on rigid rules or quick judgments — an approach that has earned her team’s trust.

She stays closely connected to employees and customers alike, listening carefully and working toward solutions that benefit everyone. Her ability to balance accountability with empathy has become one of her greatest strengths.

Modernizing a Trusted Name

Founded in 1977, Colony Air built a strong reputation across North Texas for doing things the right way. Elaine has helped the company evolve while staying true to those values. She introduced digital tools that improve efficiency and transparency — technicians can now share photos and real-time information with customers, helping homeowners make more informed decisions. She is also exploring AI tools to support and elevate technicians’ diagnostic expertise.

Building a Strong Team Culture

Beyond operations, Elaine is deeply invested in her people. Known as the company’s “Happiness Director,” she finds creative ways to strengthen relationships and build morale — like a Valentine’s Day bloom bar where employees made flower arrangements for their loved ones. It’s a small gesture that reflects her belief that a strong company starts with people who feel valued.

A Leader for the Future

Outside of work, Elaine’s weekends are spent at cheer competitions and swim meets. When she finds a quiet moment, she enjoys gardening, which helps her slow down and recharge.

As Colony Air Conditioning & Heating looks ahead, Elaine is poised to take on an even greater leadership role. Her mother, Kathy Everett, says it best: “She strikes a beautiful balance between being driven for success and filled with empathy. She cares deeply about how others feel and wants them to be heard, respected, and successful.”

It’s that balance that defines Elaine Rosenthal as a true leading woman.
