Q&A

Auto Repair Shop

What’s this going to cost me?

Your check engine light comes on and your first thought is, “How much will this cost?” But the answer depends on several factors. Basically, your engine and your transmission need to work together. If there’s a problem with either one, it can affect the other. While we’re known as a transmission shop, we also offer complete automotive repair, including all makes and models. While many shops will tell you your transmission needs to be replaced, as soon as you have an issue with it, we can often repair or rebuild it.

All that to say, I don’t always know as soon as you bring your car in how much the repairs will cost. But we offer a free assessment. Sometimes, we can scan your vehicle and test drive to determine if it’s a major issue or not. Other times, we’ll need to do some diagnostic testing. Before we do, we’ll always get your approval for the cost of the diagnostics. And we’ll never do any repair work until you’ve approved the total cost.

How long is it going to take?

Nobody wants to be without their car. But the length of time will depend on the work that needs to be done. A set of brake pads, tune-up, suspension work, or new water pump, for instance, can usually be done within a few hours and certainly within 48 hours. With major repairs, we’re dealing with variables such as parts, availability, and workflow. We’ll give you a realistic time estimate for repairs and work to get your car back to you even sooner. While we have your car, we’ll update you — usually twice a day — so you’re not left hanging.

How do I know the work you’re recommending really needs to be done?

The automotive industry got a bad name in the 80s and 90s. We’re working to fix that. We’ve invested in advanced digital video-inspection technology that allows us to take pictures, write a report, and send it to you through a text or email. We’ll go over the diagnostic report and take time explaining to you why our recommendations are significant, and you can choose what you want to fix today or budget to do later. If you bring your car in for a transmission problem, but we see that you need new brake pads or new tires, we’ll be upfront and honest about what we see, show you the diagnostic pictures, and you can decide what you want us to fix. We also offer financing with NAPA Easy Pay through Synchrony Bank, which charges 5.99% for up to 12 months on most repairs.

What’s the warranty on your work?

We’re a Gold-Certified NAPA Auto Care Center like only 10% of NAPA centers in the nation. As such, we offer a three-year 36,000-mile warranty on all our automotive repairs, a two-year 24,000-mile warranty on transmission work, and on some work, we can offer a three-year unlimited or five-year unlimited-mileage warranty.
