Dr. Holly Fisher Britt will tell you anything you want to know about Eyecare Rockwall, including her team of five compassionate optometrists, the fact that they’ve served patients of all ages for nearly 30 years, and their uncompromising commitment to the whole patient and providing premium eye care services and products. But sometimes, it’s easier for her to start by explaining who they aren’t.

“We aren’t your basic eye care shop,” Dr. Britt said. “We aren’t next to Walmart or Costco. We’re not a doc-in-the-box or a practice that does vision exams remotely. We aren’t corporately entangled, and we don’t run you in and out quickly with a new pair of glasses.

“Everything that has taken over and ruined private practice optometry — we are not.”

Together with Drs. Laura Wiese, Thuy Lieu, Ross Moulder, and Thomas Neiman, Dr. Britt is focused on practicing a higher standard of care. Sure, the office carries a large selection of frames, lenses, sunglasses, and contact lenses to meet your needs. They also fill prescriptions and do standard exams. However, they are more interested in building relationships with every patient and keeping their eyes working at their best. That means being invested in looking at the bigger picture and never rushing anyone through an exam. After all, you never know what could be missed. Your dry eyes, migraines, blurry vision, and other eye health concerns could be linked to an underlying condition, such as allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure, and eye cancers, that you and your primary care physician may not be aware of. Many times, your optometrist can tell right away.

Whether you need a routine vision exam, an eyeglass or contact lens prescription, treatment for eye disease or injury, corrective surgery (such as LASIK/PRK or cataract surgery), or something in between, Dr. Britt and her associates will provide you with the best care, advice, options, continued care, and referrals to the best ophthalmologists in their fields of eye specialty.

“I’ve seen patients leave another practice without knowing what’s wrong,” Dr. Britt said. “That doesn’t happen here.”

The Next Generation of Eye Care

Dr. Britt constantly refers to the next generation of eye care, which is interesting when you consider her practice has been in the area for as long as it has. In many ways, they resemble the optometry practices of yesteryear. But while newer practices are pulling back on services or shuffling patients in and out quickly, Dr. Britt and her associates constantly look for new and innovative ways to perform cutting-edge eye care. Far from being stuck in the past, Eyecare Rockwall offers medical management for patients on high-risk medications, glaucoma, diabetic care, macular degeneration, dry eyes, infections, and injuries, as well as co-management for cataract surgery, LASIK/PRK surgeries, eye plastics, and more.

They offer myopia control therapies such as Ortho-K, atropine eye drops, and multifocal eyeglasses, and contact lenses. More commonly known as nearsightedness, myopia is where individuals can see objects close to them but may have difficulty distinguishing things at a distance, such as road signs or leaves on a tree.

Eyecare Rockwall can also help with specialty hard-to-fit contacts, eye misalignment, and migraine
treatment lenses.

“It’s a higher standard of care,” Dr. Britt said. “There are many things that go on under the surface that lead to dry eyes, for example. We need to get to the root cause rather than sending people on their way. If we’re only doing a vision exam, it can be missed. We take a lot of pride in what we do. We have an optical lab onsite, making us the only optometrist in a 25-mile radius that allows us to make glasses within an hour. We can do that because we have the best staff. They were all hand-picked.”

A Team That Cares

Speaking of the best team, Eyecare Rockwall wouldn’t be what it is today without amazing optometrists. Dr. Neiman just recently joined the practice after spending time at two distinguished private practices, and his experience includes working with patients of all ages on everything from routine exams to walk-in emergencies. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Incarnate Word and resides in the Rockwall area with his wife and baby boy, Lukas. He joins a team that also includes Dr. Wiese, who has been an optometrist for nearly 30 years and specializes in dry eye cases. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry and exceptionally experienced in using individualized treatment modalities and optimal vision correction utilizing various lens options, such as anti-fatigue lenses and NeuroLens, to help people see more clearly and comfortably. She resides in Rockwall with her husband and two cats.

Dr. Lieu earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. She is passionate about myopia management and is experienced in designing contact lenses for her patients. Dr. Moulder also earned his degree from the University of Houston and gained valuable experience in his unique externship settings, including a distinguished rotation at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, where he worked with state-of-the-art equipment and administered eye care to recruits and veterans alike. He’s managed patients with eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

Not to be outdone, Dr. Britt is a Diplomate with the American Board of Optometry and graduated from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She has been in private practice in the Lake Ray Hubbard area for over 32 years. As the founder of Eyecare Rockwall, she oversees the day-to-day operations and works exclusively with her established clients — particularly in emergency eye care and hard-to-fit, specialty, and medically necessary contact lens services. Dr. Britt is married to Dr. Paul Britt, a chiropractor in Gulf Breeze, Florida, where she spends half her time. They enjoy life with their three adult children and granddaughter, Lily.
