Dr. Holly Fisher Britt will tell you anything you want to know about Eyecare Rockwall, including her team of five compassionate optometrists, the fact that they’ve served patients of all ages for nearly 30 years, and their uncompromising commitment to the whole patient and providing premium eye care services and products. But sometimes, it’s easier for her to start by explaining who they aren’t.
“We aren’t your basic eye care shop,” Dr. Britt said. “We’re not a doc-in-the-box or a practice that does vision exams remotely. We aren’t corporately entangled, and we don’t run you in and out quickly with a new pair of glasses.”
Together with Drs. Laura Wiese, Thuy Lieu, Ross Moulder, and Thomas Neiman, Dr. Britt is focused on practicing a higher standard of care. Sure, the office carries a large selection of frames, lenses, sunglasses, and contact lenses to meet your needs. They also fill prescriptions and do standard exams. However, they are more interested in building relationships with every patient and keeping their eyes working at their best. That means being invested in looking at the bigger picture and never rushing anyone through an exam. After all, you never know what could be missed. Your dry eyes, migraines, blurry vision, and other eye health concerns could be linked to an underlying condition, such as allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure, and eye cancers, that you and your primary care physician may not be aware of. Many times, your optometrist can tell right away.
Whether you need a routine vision exam, an eyeglass or contact lens prescription, treatment for eye disease or injury, corrective surgery (such as LASIK/PRK or cataract surgery), or something in between, Dr. Britt and her associates will provide you with the best care, advice, options, continued care, and referrals to the best ophthalmologists in their fields of eye specialty.
The Next Generation of Eye Care
Dr. Britt constantly refers to the next generation of eye care, which is interesting when you consider her practice has been in the area for as long as it has. In many ways, they resemble the optometry practices of yesteryear. But while newer practices are pulling back on services or shuffling patients in and out quickly, Dr. Britt and her associates constantly look for new and innovative ways to perform cutting-edge eye care. Far from being stuck in the past, Eyecare Rockwall offers medical management for patients on high-risk medications, glaucoma, diabetic care, macular degeneration, dry eyes, infections, and injuries, as well as co-management for cataract surgery, LASIK/PRK surgeries, eye plastics, and more.
They offer myopia control therapies such as Ortho-K, atropine eye drops, and multifocal eyeglasses, and contact lenses. More commonly known as nearsightedness, myopia is where individuals can see objects close to them but may have difficulty distinguishing things at a distance, such as road signs or leaves on a tree.
Eyecare Rockwall can also help with specialty hard-to-fit contacts, eye misalignment, and migraine treatment lenses. “There are many things that go on under the surface that lead to dry eyes, for example,” Dr. Britt said. “We need to get to the root cause rather than sending people on their way. If we’re only doing a vision exam, it can be missed. We take a lot of pride in what we do. We have an optical lab onsite, making us the only optometrist in a 25-mile radius that allows us to make glasses within an hour. We can do that because we have the best staff. They were all hand-picked.”
