Connections Wellness Group – Rockwall brings life-enhancing, personalized, comprehensive mental health solutions for adults and adolescents and an innovative, integrated treatment model to the Greater Rockwall area. The team includes therapists, a registered nurse, two psychiatric nurse practitioners, and talented coordinators, specialists, and clinicians who provide an array of services that set the practice apart.

“There’s a growing demand for mental health care, and we’re continually evolving and innovating to meet the community’s needs,” says Rockwall’s executive director, Mica Alexander, MA, MBA, LPC.

Beyond General Mental Health Services

Connections Wellness Group – Rockwall’s PHP (partial hospitalization program) and IOP (intensive outpatient program) services provide a more intensive level of care. These carefully designed programs, which average around 10 weeks, help stabilize and improve an individual’s mental health before transitioning to therapy sessions once or twice a week.

“Think of IOP and PHP as in-between levels of care, with the highest being in-patient hospitalization,” Mica explains. “Our clients receive lots of support throughout these programs, including group therapy and processing, psychiatry, and dietary consultations.”

Adult PHPs and IOPs meet from 9 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday. Due to high demand, an adult group from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM was recently added. Additionally, adolescent general mental health and dual diagnosis (substance abuse and mental health) IOP and PHP programs were introduced in
September 2022.

A Sprinkle of Fun

Innovation comes in various forms at Connections Wellness Group – Rockwall and one of them is Sprinkles, the bearded dragon. Docile and gentle, Sprinkles enjoys being held and fed. “IOP and PHP can be intense. Sprinkles brings lightness to the group and helps clients open up, engage, and show their personality,” Mica says.

Talented IOP/PHP Team

Mica credits a remarkable team of professionals who make PHPs and IOPs possible. Abigail Bon, LMSW, supervised by Amanda Manchack, LCSW-S, is the mental health adult therapist and Sprinkles’ caretaker. Dishawn Adams, LCDC, LPC-A, supervised by Kacey Gilmore, is the SUD (substance abuse disorder) adult therapist. The adolescent program team includes Dual Adolescent Therapist Cassey Amburn, LPC, Mental Health Adolescent Therapist Jeremy Fields, LMSW, and Adolescent Program Interns Alyssa Villereal and Leena Kamal. Rounding out the team are Ieshia Kimble, PMHNP-BC, Blessy Kuncheria, PMHNP-BC, Amy Patterson, RN, Kaitlin Welborn, MHT, Business Development Manager Kristi Lewis, LPC, Care Coordinator Rhondie Anderson, and Welcome Specialist Paulina Jimenez.
