Heath Hullett keeps his secret weapon close
at Eagle Automotive and Transmission Repair. You would be hard pressed to
find it at another auto shop within a hundred miles. Meanwhile, he goes about
his day focused on customer needs, unassumingly.
One customer may need a routine service or
minor repair whether it be air conditioning, brakes, or a complete engine or
transmission replacement. Heath worked diligently to build a team offering
complete automotive repair on all makes and models. Heath is sincere about
helping people keep their vehicles safe and reliable.
“We truly believe God put us here for a
reason, and we want to bless people and build relationships,” he
said.
Working alongside his wife of 14 years, Heath
and his team of seven – including Martin Torres who worked with Heath for the
last eight years – have served Rockwall and Collin County for nearly two
years with an aim to be good neighbors and members of the community. Those
priorities are no secret.
“We have kept our prices at a very fair rate,”
said Heath. “We do good, quality repairs in a timely fashion, offer a very
good warranty, and exceptional customer service.”
A working manager now, Heath started his
career in 1998 and moved up quickly, seeing times change along the way. For
one, “it’s not a man’s world anymore,” he said. Two women, one armed with an
associate degree in auto repair, staff his front counter writing service,
answering questions, and building estimates for customers.
A comfortable, family-friendly atmosphere
extends beyond the front desk, into the garage for employees, and back out
again, as Heath’s team does honest work he stands behind.
The opportunity to take over Eagle Automotive
and Transmission arrived in October 2021. Though Heath was happy in his
current workplace, he took the chance anyway.
“I truly believed in God from the very
beginning when we took that leap of faith,” he said.
With the latest car diagnostic software, new
alignment equipment, new A/C equipment, lifts, and warranties for all
automotive repairs for two years and 24,000 miles nationwide through Napa
Auto Care Center, Heath is excited about the shop change. He even helps
customers find 0% financing for 6 to 12 months on repairs.
“A person’s car is typically their second
biggest investment. I can give a great price so people can take their
families on vacation and get back and forth to work,” he
said.
Reliable
Transmission Shop
Some things stay the same. A dedicated
father-son team still builds transmissions at Heath’s Eagle. The elder
patriarch of the aforementioned team uses his 40 years of experience to add
to his son’s 10 years of experience. Several other mechanic shops bring their
transmissions to Heath’s Eagle because of it. Transmission repair warranties
range from 12 months and 12,000 miles on rebuilds all the way up to an
unlimited mile warranty on a remanufactured transmission, he said. It is all
up to the customer and their budget.
And repairs or rebuilds on newer 10-speed
transmissions are firmly within the Eagle Automotive and Transmission
wheelhouse, but if you have an engine problem or gasket leaking, Heath’s team
can fix it, whether it’s an Acura, BMW, or Chevrolet.
“I have a goal and that’s to be the best,”
Heath says, pointing to 120 Google reviews earned in the past 20 months, only
one of which was less than stellar. On that one, Heath contacted the customer
to amend the error, and was able to meet the customer’s needs with direct
communication.
“Anytime I’ve had an issue, I’ve always done
whatever it takes to do the right thing,” he said.

Legit Hair Studio
About that
secret weapon. For a little over a year, people walking into Eagle Automotive
and Transmission have been walking out with a new cut and color. Funky blue
hair has gotten more popular, and shiny silver tones are trendy now too. The
busy mechanics aren’t moonlighting as stylists. Heath’s well-coiffed wife,
Lauren, does the work alongside her best friend, also named Lauren, creating
salon makeovers for people with illuminated check engine lights and weak
A/Cs. The Lauren and Lauren duo have worked side by side for almost 15
years, with Lauren Monroy deciding on the career after finding cut and color
technique endlessly intriguing.
Car trouble
is not required for a visit to Pretty Legit Hair Studio, housed under the
same roof as the auto shop, but as Heath’s repair clients learn about
Lauren’s Hair Studio and vice versa, both businesses grow. Ultra-efficient
types schedule car and hair service in tandem.
Free hands
for walk-ins are rare, so advance booking is recommended. Though the studio
only opened last April, it’s helmed by women with over three decades of
combined experience.
“I have a
huge handful of people who have been with me for 20 plus years. I probably
know more about them than their own family does,” says Lauren
Hullett.
Grinning a
smile you can hear in her voice, she talked about her earliest days learning
how to cut men’s double-zero fades, putting her through the paces to perfect
the smooth and tapered styles. Precision training on fades that were “as low
as you can go on fades, all day every day,” Lauren got comfortable on men’s
styles 20 years ago, but men, women, and children of all ages are welcome at
her hair studio. Her favorite kind of work is on those exotic shades and
elegant tones reached with patience and a skillful application of paints and
bleach.
“I have a
lot of fashion colors that I do. I have a lot of clients that I do purples
and blues and pinks and all that. I love color. Highlights. Lowlights. I love
a good color,” she said.
