Making Your Home Appealing to Buyers

Making your home appealing to buyers

Real Estate Roundup

To sell your house in a timely manner, and for an optimal price, you’re gonna want to put your best foot forward. Try these tricks to make your property attractive to buyers.

Curb Appeal

Attractive landscaping makes a great first impression. Keep your home’s lawn mowed, prune the bushes, weed the garden, and plant some eye-catching perennials.

Spruce up the Outside

When potential buyers see a sloppy exterior, they’ll assume the inside in neglected, as well. Eliminate outside clutter, clean gutters, fix broken windows, and pressure wash your siding.

Create an Inviting Entrance

A fresh coat of paint on the front door, especially in a color that contrasts with the home, can make a world of difference. Replace faded house numbers. Put out a new welcome mat.  And introduce some seasonal plantings in planters.

Remove Clutter and Personal Items

You want a potential buyer to picture themselves living in your home. If you must, rent a storage unit to stash tchotchkes, family photos, and other personal items.

Organize Closets and Drawers

Buyers will likely inspect your home’s storage potential. If drawers and closets look crammed, they’ll assume there’s not enough storage space.

Paint Neutral Colors

When it comes to color, we all have different taste. Offer buyers a neutral pallet and let them envision their own colors, rather than hitting them between the eyes with yours.

Light it Up

Open curtains to welcome in natural light. Add floor or table lamps to any dim areas. A well-lit room looks bigger and more inviting.

Eliminate Odors

When showing your home, pop some cookies or bread in the oven and put fresh flowers about. And for Pete’s sake, hide that litter box and smelly dog bed.

Make Everything Shine

Lastly, clean your home until it sparkles—top to bottom.
