After a long, successful career, Bhavna Gupta was ready to realize her dream of owning her own business. She began researching franchise options. “I knew I wanted to do something related to children and children’s activities,” Bhavna said. “And I’ve always loved cooking.”
Fast forward four years and Bhavna is owner of Young Chef’s Academy Frisco, working with children and introducing others to the joys of cooking. And it’s not just for kids. “We also have adult programs,” Bhavna said. “It’s fun for families, Girls Night Out, and corporate team building.” Classes are broken into KinderCooks for ages four through seven, JuniorChefs for seven and up, and skill-based
class, SeniorChefs.
“Introducing children to the culinary world is about more than just learning to cook,” Bhavna said. “Cooking is a hands-on activity that engages all the senses, nurtures self-confidence, and fosters a lifelong love of food, creativity, and curiosity.”
Young Chef’s Academy students aren’t just taught recipes but culinary skills such as presentation, how to scale for the number of people they’ll be feeding, how to substitute ingredients, how to keep a clean workstation, how to use fresh herbs in their cooking, knife skills, blender skills, kitchen hygiene, and more. It’s a popular activity for field trips and birthday parties. And registration is open now for all the hands-on adventure of Summer Culinary Camp.
