There is nothing leading woman Dr. Nasha Nensey appreciates more than a smile on a patient’s face. Her work at Fort Bend Rheumatology allows her, with her team, to help create that smile by relieving pain and improving a patient’s function.
Fort Bend Rheumatology, founded in 2006 by Dr. Edward Hernandez, specializes in the treatment of Autoimmune Diseases that affect the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons. These diseases can cause pain, swelling, stiffness, and if left untreated, can result in severe joint deformities.
“Patients often don’t believe me when I say we can help them,” Dr. Nensey says. “Many of them are in so much pain. But we can help and I love building that bond with them. I have gained so many friends that way.”
Dr. Nensey received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego and her medical training from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She serves as an active member of the American College of Rheumatology, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Nensey and her husband, Aman, a businessman, are parents to a four-year-old daughter and are expecting their second child soon.
Returning Quality of Life
Dr. Nensey works closely with Physician Assistants Lauren Walker and Elena Wallace to tailor a custom therapeutic regimen to help patients recover and thrive. They take pride in offering many helpful services in-house to save patients the time, money and stress of visiting various facilities. Currently, these services include Infusion Services, Physical Therapy, Hydration Therapy, and laboratory services. Each patient’s treatment is carefully and individually planned to maximize results and return patients to health and vibrancy as soon as possible.
Physician Assistant, Lauren Walker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant studies from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and a former EMT.
“I have found my niche,” Lauren says. “Rheumatology allows me to help fit the puzzle pieces together and diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients with potentially life-threatening complex autoimmune disorders. This field provides the unique reward of developing genuine relationships with your patients and making a difference in their lives.”
Physician Assistant, Elena Wallace received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from Texas A&M University. She graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston with a Master of Physician Assistant studies in 2008.
Since joining FBRA in 2019, Elena has developed a close working relationship with the other physicians and advanced practice providers in order to supply patient-centered, team-based care. She has extensive clinical experience and is proficient in procedural skills, medical therapies, diagnostics, and disease monitoring.
“Many of our patients are in severe pain or have a disease with life threatening consequences, “ Elena says. “I have the opportunity to help save patients’ lives and return their quality of life.”
Treating Rare and Painful Diseases
The diseases and conditions treated by the outstanding team at Fort Bend Rheumatology affect a variety of age groups across various organ systems and require an assortment of treatments.
Vasculitis, for example, involves inflammation of the blood vessels. This can cause a narrowing of the vessel which may result in organ and tissue damage. Vasculitis can affect anyone, though some types are more common among certain age groups. Most types require medications to control the inflammation and prevent organ damage.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels. Painful swelling may eventually result in bone erosion and joint deformity. In this case, new types of medications have improved treatment options dramatically.
Ankylosing spondylitis can cause some of the small bones in your spine (vertebrae) to fuse. This makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched-forward posture. If ribs are affected, it can be difficult to breathe deeply. Ankylosing spondylitis affects men more often than women and typically begins in early adulthood. Treatments can lessen your symptoms and possibly slow progression of the disease.
Diagnosing medical conditions can be a real challenge, especially when it comes to complex issues like rheumatology. That’s why it’s crucial to work closely with the professionals at Fort Bend Rheumatology who can understand your symptoms and determine the best treatment options for your unique needs. With the latest technologies and medications at their disposal, the team at Fort Bend Rheumatology can provide you with the care and support you need to recover and get back to feeling your best.
Direct Treatment with Infusions
Dr. Nensey, Lauren and Elena, along with the rest of the medical team at Fort Bend Rheumatology spend many hours in continuing education and research. They are deeply committed to offering patients cutting edge therapies in order relieve debilitating symptoms. Because of this commitment, they have added additional infusion therapies to the list of those they offer. The delivery of nutrients to the bloodstream through infusion can show greater benefit than oral supplements and directly address many issues.
The B-Lean Infusion is an IV Nutrient Infusion Formula. It supports fat burning, boosts metabolism and enhances blood flow and circulation, creating ideal conditions for weight loss. Keeping weight at optimum levels offers relief for many conditions as well as promoting heart health. Other infusions enhance physical recovery and heighten bodily performance or address headaches, nausea and dehydration.
The leading women at Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates have the knowledge, the training, the skills, and the heart to improve their patients’ lives and the community of Sugar Land.
