Journey of Faith

Tanya Magnus’s journey to founding Choose to Soar Ministries is one marked by resilience, perseverance, and a deep sense of purpose. Despite successful careers in professional sports, entertainment, and the corporate world, Tanya found herself grappling with infertility and a sense of spiritual emptiness. It was through this struggle that she rediscovered her faith and embarked on a journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Driven by a passion to understand and share the teachings of the Bible, Tanya launched into a mission to equip women with the tools they needed to deepen their understanding of scripture and live out its principles in their daily lives. What began as Bible studies at her local church gradually evolved into a comprehensive ministry focused on teaching, leadership training, mentoring, and discipleship.

Helping Women to Soar Above

At the heart of Choose to Soar Ministries is the belief that every woman has the potential to soar above life’s challenges and live a life of significance and purpose. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, Choose to Soar Ministries equips women with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges and discover their God-given calling.

Weekly Bible studies serve as a cornerstone of Choose to Soar Ministries, providing women with a space to delve deep into scripture, ask questions, and find community and support. Tanya’s innovative teaching methods, such as asking women to create lists of questions about biblical passages, help participants uncover hidden truths and meanings in the scriptures.

In addition to weekly Bible studies, Choose to Soar Ministries offers specialized training programs, known as Encounter Weekends, on themes relevant to the universal human experience. These weekends provide women with an opportunity to encounter God in a meaningful way and explore topics such as processing grief and loss, discovering life’s purpose, and cultivating a love for scripture.

Central to Choose to Soar Ministries’ approach is the belief that personal transformation begins with a deep understanding of scripture. Through mentorship and discipleship programs, women are equipped to not only deepen their own faith but also to mentor and disciple others, creating a ripple effect of transformation throughout their communities.

Today, around 90 women join Choose to Soar for weekly Bible studies, representing over a dozen churches in the area. Being a member of a local church is not required to join, and many participate though they may be without a home church or just learning to walk in faith. Many more women join for her six Encounter Weekends each year.

Impact

The impact of Choose to Soar Ministries extends far beyond its physical location, touching the lives of women from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. Testimonies abound of lives transformed, relationships restored, and purpose rediscovered through the ministry’s teachings and programs.

Women like Judy, who found solace and support in the “After It Breaks” class, and Melissa, whose faith was deepened through Choose to Soar’s Bible studies and Encounter Weekends, serve as shining examples of the transformative power of the Holy Spirit, which is the mission of Choose to Soar Ministries.

“I have attended Choose to Soar Bible studies and several Encounter Weekends over the past few years. The Lord has used Tanya and the ministry to challenge and excite me into digging deeper into the Word of God. I am so grateful,” said Melissa.

Erica said, “I wasn’t sure what to expect from the After it Breaks Encounter weekend, but it was an amazing display of God working to use his Word and his people to move all the ladies forward in healing and to restore what carrying grief has stolen. I highly recommend it to anyone, not just those who have lost a loved one.”

But the impact of Choose to Soar Ministries goes beyond individual lives. As women are empowered to live out their God-given calling and purpose, families are transformed, communities are strengthened, and a generation is changed for the glory of God.

Developing women leaders in ministry is another passion for CTS. They work with other women-led nonprofit organizations to develop their leaders. Choose to Soar understands the struggles with limited capacity and they have a dedicated room at their Rockwall location just for these nonprofits to hold board meetings. Tanya and her team have also created a much-needed space to have coffee and mentor each other, just for women. They have a room that was transformed into a living-room-like space available as well. “You have got to come see it and feel the peace of this space,” says Tanya.
