Rachel Thomas is not your typical businesswoman. Entrepreneurial from a young age, she’s been charting her own course since she was just five years old, selling handmade bracelets and necklaces by the ice cream truck.
Today, Rachel owns and operates her multimillion-dollar salon, The Beauty Lounge. She runs locations in The Woodlands, Conroe, and Magnolia, with plans to expand even further.
But what really lights her up is her consulting company, Babes in Business, dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams.
Babes in Business started as a coaching company for salon owners but quickly evolved into something much more. “We work with a lot of women who are also moms,” Rachel says. “I want them to know that they can be a mom and a girl boss at the same time and pursue their professional dreams without sacrificing their idea of being a great mom and wife.”
The annual Babes in Business Live event held at The Westin at The Woodlands has become a beacon for women business owners of all kinds, from real estate agents to boutique owners and every profession in between. “It has evolved into something far beyond my initial plans,” Rachel says. “I’m so excited about where it’s headed.”
Babes in Business provides community and a chance to connect with other women entrepreneurs and business owners. Reflecting on the last event, Rachel says, “We had a fantastic panel that was truly inspiring for everyone in attendance. It’s amazing for women to see themselves up on that stage, realizing they can achieve great things too.”
For Rachel, the success of Babes in Business is more than just a professional accomplishment. “It feels incredible to see our efforts paying off,” she says. “It’s confirmation that we’re on the right path, doing exactly what we’re meant to do.”
Apart from her professional pursuits, Rachel is deeply devoted to her family and community. With four children ranging from a baby to a teenager, her life is undoubtedly busy. She loves working with her husband, Drew, and says, “None of our companies would be as great as they are without him.”
Rachel’s commitment to empowering women extends beyond her consulting business. She wants to foster connection and inspiration among women in her community. “In a world where people are so disconnected, it’s important to foster those connections,” she says.
This drive she has to create meaningful connections underscores everything Rachel does, whether it’s coaching salon owners or hosting inclusive events for women entrepreneurs. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially women balancing multiple roles, is simple yet powerful: “You can do it. Don’t listen to anyone who says you can’t.”
Rachel is proof positive that with determination, passion, and a supportive community, anything is possible.
