H-E-B AWARDS TEXAS EDUCATORS

H-E-B’s annual Excellence in Education awards were announced in May, honoring teachers, schools, districts, and school boards across the state with cash prizes and grants in celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Week. Since 2002, the awards have given more than $12 million to dedicated educators across the state. Winners this year span the state from San Antonio to Plano to Corpus Chrisi. The winners were recognized in a virtual “Toast to Texas Teachers” presentation featuring appearances by Matthew McConaughey and Eva Longoria. TEXAS DRINK MAKER MAKES GOOD

Texas Vodka brand Tito’s brings some good news to the fore thanks to a few grants that will benefit COVID-19 research–a $1 million gift to the Baylor College of Medicine for vaccine research among them. “We’re proud to help facilitate some of the inspiring and necessary work folks are doing to make such an impactful difference in the lives of so many,” the company said in a statement on their website. $2.5 million and $400K grants have also been announced for pandemic modeling and ventilator production to The University of Texas.
