McKinney Edges Cy Falls in Cy-Hoops Invitational Final

McKinney High School defeated Cypress Falls High School, 48-47, in the championship game of the 12th annual Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational on Dec. 11 at the Berry Center to win the 22-team tournament.

It’s the first Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational title for McKinney.

McKinney senior guard Ja’Kobe Walter was named the Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational Most Valuable Player. Cypress Falls senior guard Jesaiah McWright won the inaugural De’Aaron Fox Most Outstanding Player Award. Named after the former Cypress Lakes High School basketball standout and current NBA star, the honor will be awarded to a player who excels on the court but also embodies the spirit of a student-athlete.
