Q&A

Flooring Contractor

What’s the most popular floor covering right now?

Luxury vinyl plank is extremely popular. It is an amazing product. It looks and feels like wood. It’s easy to take care of and keep clean, which is why many families with kids and pets like it. Some people are going for patterned carpets on the stairs or in the media room. We offer Mohawk SmartStrand Silk, which is one of the softest carpets on the market. You can really sink your toes into this carpet. If you have pets, you can also upgrade the carpet padding to help keep stains on top of the carpet instead of soaking down into the padding.

Can I see what a flooring option would look like in my home? Do you offer free estimates and any warranties?

Our website features a room visualizer, or you can take samples from our showroom and look at them in your home. We can measure everything at your home and give you a free estimate. All of our products have a warranty, including a one-year installation warranty.

How long do current trends in floor coverings typically last before they become outdated? Does it necessarily matter to follow the trends?

Trends in floor coverings usually last from 10 to 15 years. Right now, I’m seeing a lot of people choosing lighter floors to go with dark cabinets and gold fixtures. Gray has been around for several years now, and it’s starting to fade a bit in popularity. When it comes to following trends, I don’t think it necessarily matters all that much. I encourage people to get what they like. It’s their house, after all. If they like gray and want to put in gray flooring, I say they should go for it.

I plan to sell my house soon. Should I put in new floors or leave that to the homebuyers?

I think the answer depends on what’s in your budget. Homes tend to show better when they have new flooring, which is why many real estate agents will advise getting new floors. Some people choose to put in all new floors before listing their house, and others don’t quite have the budget for it. If your budget allows, upgrading your floors can really boost your home’s appeal and value. Fresh, modern flooring creates a lasting impression. It gives your home a polished, well-maintained appearance, which can set it apart from others on the market. New floors also eliminate the need for buyers to invest in renovations, which can make your property more attractive and potentially lead to a faster sale at a higher price. Ultimately, though, it just depends on each person’s situation.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, we offer financing so you can get your dream flooring and pay over time. Financing can help open up more options so you’re not just choosing based on budget and you’re getting the flooring you really want. You can go to SmittysFloorCoverings.com/financing to get pre-qualified.
