Is there anything I can do to improve the look of my mouth?
Lowrance Dental offers many services designed to give you the brightest smile ever. Dr. Stan works closely with his daughter, Dr. Shanae Lowrance, and their colleague Dr. Christina Leon to bring you the latest in updated techniques and treatments. This highly skilled team can advise you on exactly what will provide the improvements you are seeking. They offer whitening, veneers, tooth reshaping, complete smile makeovers and more right in their convenient location in Rockwall. Feeling better about your teeth builds confidence and can give you the boost you need. Some smile makeover patients have confided that it has changed every aspect of their life.
I’M INTERESTED IN GETTING SOME COSMETIC DENTAL WORK DONE. WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT THE RESULT WOULD LOOK LIKE?
Yes. When patients want cosmetic work done, we have a 3D model of it made. We take a digital scan of their teeth, make a 3D design, and print a wax-up of what their smile would look like. They can hold it, try it in, and make any changes they’d like. The patient generally wears their temporary crowns for two weeks, which allows them time to decide if they want any changes made. We also make sure the patient loves the final look of their crowns or veneers before being permanently cemented.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS?
First, have a comprehensive dental examination completed. The exam helps determine if a patient is a good candidate for dental implants and the type of implant for their needs. Part of this process includes taking X-rays, especially a CBCT (cone beam computed tomography), doing a visual exam, periodontal exam, and a thorough medical history evaluation. A personalized treatment plan will then be formulated for the patient from a health, functional, and esthetic standpoint. Not everyone is a good candidate, but there are many more implant options today than ever before.
What technological advances have improved dental treatment?
Digital X-rays have dramatically reduced the amount of radiation dental professionals and patients undergo. The American Dental Association recently lifted their recommendation for the use of lead aprons during X-rays. Digital technology makes X-rays safer, faster, and more accurate. With the current technology, you’re only going to experience about the same amount of radiation from digital X-rays as you would encounter on a flight from Dallas to New York City. That’s a very small amount.
How often should I replace my crowns and/or fillings?
There is no definitive timeline for replacement. A filling or a crown should be replaced when it’s failing. The real question is what’s causing a patient’s crown to fail or fillings to wear? A variety of factors contribute to needing a replacement, including teeth grinding, diet, oral hygiene, and natural wear and tear.
I’m cavity prone. What can I do?
The most important thing is to reduce the acidity level in your mouth because acidity breaks down tooth enamel, which leads to many dental problems. The biggest offenders are carbonation, citrus, and coffee. Even if they don’t contain sugar, carbonated beverages are highly acidic. If you take in an acidic food or drink, try to finish it quickly and wait 30 minutes before you brush your teeth.
