When Sean’s friends ask for recommendations for an orthopedic and sports medicine practice, he has a lot to say on the subject. After all, the doctors and staff at Texas Orthopedic Specialists (TOS) have treated him, his wife, and two of their children — and treated them well.
“My wife has been to multiple orthopedic practices for orthopedic issues over the years, but this group has been a true godsend,” he said. “They have treated one son non-surgically as well as performing surgery on my ankle and my wife’s foot. They are very informative, easy to talk to, great attitude, and a wealth of knowledge. You can tell they truly care about you and want to help you have a better life. Care for patients’ well-being is reflected in the entire staff.”
His enthusiasm for the TOS team doesn’t stop there. “Dr. Nguyen performed surgery on me for a rotator cuff and my son for a labrum tear,” he said. “Both injuries were significant. I knew from the beginning that Dr. Nguyen cared about me and getting me better. When my son was injured in a high school baseball game, we took him immediately to Dr. Nguyen. After meeting him, my son wanted him to perform his surgery. He was also very informative, easy to talk to, has a great attitude, and a wealth of knowledge.”
With proper treatment and guidance, Dr. Tavakolian even helped Sean avoid surgery for a tear in his forearm/elbow area. “The bedside manner of all of these doctors is above any I’ve ever experienced,” he said. “The entire Texas Orthopedic Specialists team has been a godsend for my family. We absolutely love these doctors and their teams!”

Friday Night Injury Clinic
The TOS team is always looking for ways to pay it forward around their community. One way they do this is through a Friday Night Injury Clinic. If you’ve ever watched helplessly from the bleachers as your child was helped off the field, you know the panic that induces. The last thing you want to do is wait until Monday morning to have them seen by a doctor. The TOS team understands. They’re parents, too.
That’s why they established the Friday Night Injury Clinic which is open throughout the regular football season from 10 PM each Friday night until the last athlete is seen. The clinic includes a complimentary evaluation by a TOS provider, complimentary X-rays, consultation with an athletic trainer, onsite MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy, a full line of DME, school sport coverage, and scheduling of follow-up appointments with the appropriate provider.
Avoiding Surgery Whenever Possible
Although each of the Texas Orthopedic Specialists doctors is highly skilled, trained, and experienced, for them, surgery is always the last resort, after all other viable treatment options have been exhausted. Find out more or schedule an appointment at TXOrtho.net.
“I had severe pain in both knees and almost couldn’t walk due to osteoarthritis. Dr. David Taunton performed a bilateral knee surgery. My postoperative course has been excellent. I have pain-free mobility and full range of motion. Dr. Taunton and his staff were extremely thorough and friendly.”
