There’s nothing like arriving home after a grueling day of work, opening your front door, and smelling CLEAN! For 25 years, Debi Bascue has offered the gift of a clean home to folks throughout Lewisville, Flower Mound, and nearby communities. But she’s done so much more. As an employer, she’s intentional about paying a fair wage and working with her employees to make them the best they can be — at their jobs and in life. And she’s always looking for ways to support local nonprofits, schools, and sports teams.

“I started Rag Mops with my mom in 2001,” she said. “We started in a spare bedroom and now employ 24 people. It’s a blessing for me to be able to offer them a good living.” Toward that end, she offers her employees full benefits, including medical, dental, and vision. She pays taxes on all employees and, in an industry with historically high turnover, she has employees who’ve been with her for decades. She’s kept clients that long, too.

Debi began her own cleaning journey as a teenager when she’d babysit and couldn’t stand just sitting around after the kids went to sleep. “I wasn’t one to just sit and watch TV,” she said. “So, I’d look around to see what needed to be cleaned and clean it.” From there, she started cleaning for friends and neighbors.

When she and her mom started Rag Mops, she was a young mom herself. “Our first customers were people we knew from church or parents I met at the kids’ school, the ballfield, or Scouts,” Debi said. “It was a while before we started cleaning for strangers.” But when you’re honest, hard-working, and provide a good service, word gets out.

Rag Mops offers anything from a basic clean to a deep clean. “We customize our service to meet your needs,” Debi said. “We offer many options to work with any budget. We bring everything we need. You don’t have to provide anything and although we can’t always guarantee the same cleaner each time, we do our best to offer consistent service.”

Paying it forward is important to Debi. She’s a big supporter of Cleaning for a Reason, Double Oak Turkey Trot, and other nonprofits. “We’re proud of our longevity and grateful to the families who have trusted us to be in their personal space for 25 years,” Debi said. “It’s because of them, their repeat business, and their recommendations to family and friends that we’ve enjoyed slow, consistent growth and been able to provide our employees a good, solid income in an atmosphere that feels like family.”

When not on the job, Debi is a mother of five and Grami of three. She’s a long-time member of Oaks Chapel Bible Church in Double Oak. She loves to garden and spend quality time with family.
