Terri Bauer

For Terri Bauer, “thank you” doesn’t seem like a strong enough sentiment. For 40 years, she’s been blessed to work alongside her husband, Dr. John Bauer, and alongside their son, Dr. Cody Bauer, for the last 16. Together, they’ve been humbled to be a part of so many Mansfield families, amazing folks who shared their lives—good times and bad—with her family and trusted them with their precious oral health.

Forty years ago, when she and Dr. John opened their family practice, dentistry was primarily corrective, concentrated on fillings and tooth extractions. Together, they helped pioneer the shift toward prevention and education in dentistry. They became true healthcare partners with many Mansfield families, educating them about the links between oral health and the health of the whole body and empowering them to take wellness into their own hands.

Mansfield Family Dentistry grew through word of mouth, as one patient told another and another and elected the Bauers “Best Family Dentist” year after year. “Our favorite way to grow has been watching our youngest patients grow up, get married, then bring their own kids to us,” Terri said. “It’s been an indescribable blessing to watch amazing kids turn into amazing adults who have trusted us to care for their greatest blessing—their children.” The Bauers have also been humbled to have patients moved away, but arrange their schedule around returning to Mansfield for biannual visits to Mansfield Family Dentistry.

As Terri has watched the family practice grow, she also watched her own children grow and start families of their own and watched Mansfield grow from a sleepy, small town to a booming metropolis (that happily retains its smalltown heart). Now, as Dr. John retires to enjoy a well-earned retirement, she’s excited about the next chapter in the history of Mansfield Family Dentistry. She’ll continue to keep the office running like a well-oiled machine and enjoying the many longtime relationships with patients and staff as Dr. Cody steps into his father’s shoes as sole dentist.

“John and I couldn’t be prouder of Cody,” Terri said. “He has a wonderful rapport with patients of all ages, and he’s really brought the practice up to date with amazing
dental technology.

“My goal has always been to ‘let go and let God’, to follow the spiritual path He’s ordained for me; to give to others and help them find their own spiritual path; to remember life is a journey and to enjoy that journey; to be a good example to my children as they begin their own journey, and to give my true self to my life partner and soulmate, John.”
