Michelle Bohreer’s gift for connecting with people has put her in a unique position to serve her clients and to give back to her colleagues and her community.

“Nobody gets here on their own,” she says. “I’ve been surrounded by great people personally and professionally.”

Michelle’s law practice focuses on employer representation and commercial litigation. As a trial lawyer, she routinely sees what can go wrong with a client’s business, and this makes her specially qualified to help clients prevent business and employment disputes by anticipating them and by being proactive.

To offer these services she has built a team of highly trained professionals who understand business needs and can offer the highest-quality services.

Attorney Pritesh Soni focuses on representing clients in litigation from the filing of a lawsuit/answer, conducting discovery and depositions, trial, and through appeal. He represents individuals as well as major companies and has successfully helped resolve issues involving the Deceptive Trade Practices Act, intellectual property disputes, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, employment disputes, commercial fraud, trade secret misappropriations, tortious interference, and patents.

Sharon Taylor has been a practicing paralegal for more than 36 years. She and Michelle worked together at a firm where Michelle practiced early in her career. Sharon took time off to care for her mom and then came back to work with Michelle at the firm she founded. Sharon’s experience, knowledge, and attention to detail are integral to the firm’s work.

Kayla Ressler, administrative assistant, is the latest to join this outstanding team. While supporting the firm’s day-to-day activities, she is also working toward her paralegal certification and hopes to attend law school.

This team offers practical, no-nonsense advice and representation on issues affecting businesses and their owners. They work at the intersection of business and the law, where hiring and firing, severance discrimination and harassment, confidentiality, non-compete agreements, OSHA issues, and much more can make or break a company’s success.

The Bohreer Firm assists clients with developing and implementing appropriate employment policies and procedures and responding to EEOC charges and Department of Labor or Texas Workforce Commission wage audits. They also offer training programs designed to assist clients in meeting the ongoing challenges associated with federal and state employment laws, which continue to present a moving target. They frequently provide advice to client entities who are in the process of restructuring their business, and they have conducted due diligence investigations in connection with a nationwide roll-up of staffing companies, as well as strategic mergers and initial public offerings of staff leasing and PEO companies.

Knowing how critical these issues can be to her clients’ success, Michelle prefers to take the proactive approach by offering learning opportunities before issues occur.

“When these kinds of problems happen,” Michelle says, “one of the first things the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will investigate is whether appropriate trainings have been offered. Learning opportunities are critical to help companies avoid these kinds of problems and know how to deal with them when they do arise. It’s better to have a partner on the front end.”

Here’s what one client had to say about how Michelle worked with them: “We never thought that we would meet a lawyer who cared so much about our business. We are more than just billable hours and fees. Michelle Bohreer is not just our outside counsel; she is part of our team. Whether it is helping load a tractor-trailer with produce in the middle of the night for four nights in a row so that she can formulate the best defense possible in an industrial accident case or the fact that she makes sure we all have every possible phone number so we can call her 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Michelle provides incredible service and always a smile. My staff and our personnel department have been instructed to call Michelle directly if I am out of the office and to take her advice as if it were my own.”

Not only do Michelle and her team partner with their clients, but they also partner with many organizations and programs to help improve their community.

Michelle starts with issues that are closest to her. Because her son is on the autism spectrum she has built personal relationships with other families on the same journey.

“It’s important for me to be a resource for those who’ve received a new diagnosis,” she says. “I have ridden that roller coaster with its ups and its downs, and I can help them.”

Much of her community work happens through Rotary and the Rotary Club of Houston Skyline, which she joined in 1999. She has served as district governor for the greater Houston area and took a leading role in a project which built restrooms for girls in South Africa so they could continue to go to school. The group also created a community garden in Houston’s Third Ward, improving residents’ access to fresh and healthy food. Over the years Michelle has included her son in her Rotary work so that he could see the need to give back.

Michelle’s favorite day at the firm is when she and her team shop for Christmas gifts to donate to Be a Resource (BEAR), a nonprofit that helps at-risk and CPS-involved children and their caretakers in the greater Houston area.

Each of the team members, wearing T-shirts identifying them as Santa’s elves, fills a shopping basket with toys and goodies. Sharon shops for older children. Michelle and Pritesh concentrate on toys.

“People ask if they can bring us toys to give,” Michelle says. “One woman we met said she had been a recipient. Clients began to call asking how they could participate.”

These activities attest to a leading woman who not only serves clients with all her strength but cares for the community with all her heart.

At Bohreer Law Firm, you’ll find knowledgeable professionals with powerful experience and guidance to share.
