When you think of North Texas leading women, Dr. Janine Hopkins comes to mind. With a thriving dermatology practice and with expertise in aesthetic dermatology, including cosmetic injections and lasers, she still finds time to educate her fellow physicians from around the globe. Dr. Hopkins recently returned from London where she presented at the Ninth World Congress on Cancer Science and Therapy on two separate topics: the importance of ultrasound guidance in superficial radiation therapy (IGSRT) for treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer and combination therapy for non-surgical cure of skin cancer.

“Over the past five years, between my two dermatology practices, we’ve cured over 1,000 skin cancers using IGSRT,” Dr. Hopkins told her audience. “It’s a great time in our profession, when we can offer our patients such innovative and advanced treatment options and unequivocally save lives.”

Dr. Hopkins will next be speaking in Lisbon, Portugal, before the 17th Annual Five-Continent Congress International Medical Meeting in Dermatology and Cosmetic Medicine. In Lisbon, she’ll be educating her fellow physicians in non-surgical eyelid rejuvenation using laser therapy combined with platelet-rich-plasma injections.

“In my own practice, I’m always looking for ways I can improve someone’s quality of life and keep them stronger longer,” she said. “Sharing the things I learn with my colleagues from around the world allows me to impact patients I’ll likely never meet.”

One of the newest technologies Dr. Hopkins is pioneering to improve her patients’ lives is StarFormer high-intensity magnetic stimulation. This next-generation technology stimulates the pelvic floor to treat all types of male or female urinary incontinence and muscles of the back to strengthen the all-important core.

“During treatment, the patient sits comfortably in the StarFormer chair fully dressed for 20 to 30 minutes while the magnetic applicators in the chair stimulate muscle contraction in their entire pelvic floor area, leading to increased muscle strength,” Dr. Hopkins said.

The result is effective relief of uncontrolled urine flow. But StarFormer can also target multiple muscle groups simultaneously including inner thighs, abs, and other areas making it a non-invasive method for boosting muscle strength and improving overall body tone to enhance your workout routine, recover postpartum, or rehabilitate after an injury.

“StarFormer is gentle, fast, painless, and completely non-invasive with no known side effects,” Dr. Hopkins said. “The magnetic pulses harmlessly pass through the patient’s clothing, skin, and bone, reaching otherwise inaccessible tissue.” The core strengthening capability can help prevent injury, and because skin laxity is often caused by lack of muscle tone, it can be successful in tightening skin as well.

This is just one of many technologies Dr. Janine Hopkins is pioneering at Hopkins Dermatology. She’s also personally curated an advanced skincare line called Hopkins Dermatology Rx to help her patients overcome frustrating skincare issues and anti-aging concerns and has patented CuraCator, a hands-free, needle-free topical applicator device.
