Q&A

Family Practice

What inspired you to start Liberty Family Care & Wellness?

After several years in corporate medicine, I felt a strong calling to create something different — a practice where both patients and the healthcare team are genuinely valued. I envisioned a space where I could take the time to listen, understand each patient’s story, and partner with them in their health journey. I also sought the freedom to practice medicine in a way that reflects my values — not just metrics. Liberty Family Care & Wellness was born from that vision: to provide thoughtful, personalized, and patient-centered care that truly makes a difference.

What’s one thing you wish more patients knew about managing their health?

I wish more people understood the importance of seeking care before they’re sick. Those visits when you feel fine are so valuable because they help us establish a baseline. Even small deviations from that baseline can signal something we can catch and manage early. I’m seeing many new patients who haven’t seen a clinician in five or six years. I know coming back can feel nerve-wracking, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ll talk about where you are, what’s held you back, and any fears you may have. Together, we’ll create a plan that makes you feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

How does your military background shape the way you care for patients today?

My time in the military instilled in me a deep sense of discipline and integrity, values I carry into every patient interaction. I believe in being honest — even when the conversation is difficult — and holding myself to the highest standards of care. I also fight hard for my patients. Whether it’s securing the medications they need or navigating the referral process, I advocate for them every step of the way.

What sets your approach apart from traditional primary care practices?

My background in nursing really shapes the way I practice. Nurses are trained to meet people where they are, and that’s how I approach care. I don’t just prescribe a plan and expect compliance. If you’re hesitant about a certain medication, we’ll talk about why. Maybe we start with an over-the-counter alternative and reassess later. My goal is to listen, educate, and build lasting relationships with my patients based on trust and shared decision-making.

Why is preventive care such a big focus for you?

So many chronic conditions, like diabetes and cardiovascular disease, could be prevented or managed much earlier if caught in time. I started my career as a dialysis nurse and saw firsthand the devastating impact of late-stage disease. It’s heartbreaking. But it’s also incredibly fulfilling to help someone make a change that transforms their life. One patient recently told me she lost weight and, for the first time, her stomach no longer touched the steering wheel. Another said she finally had the energy to play with her kids. Being a part of those victories, no matter how small, is an incredible honor.
