Forty-two years is a long time to do one job — even a job you love. When Dr. Stan Lowrance first opened his family dental practice in Rockwall, Texas, he was one of only five dentists in a community of 4,000 people. As Rockwall has welcomed hundreds of new families, Dr. Stan (as he’s affectionately known) has remained one of only a handful of family-owned dental practices— and he plans to keep it
that way.
This is a wonderful time of life for Dr. Stan. With this dental practice so well established, he’s been able to welcome his daughter, Dr. Shanae Lowrance, and Dr. Christina Leon and spend time mentoring them in their careers even as he continues treating generations of patients he’s come to consider family. It’s also a time for him to look for even more ways to give back to his community.
Honoring Veterans
One way he does this is through caring for those who have served in our armed forces. Veterans are welcome and honored at Lowrance Dental. For seven years, Dr. Stan has hosted Dental Day for Veterans Day (D-Day for V-Day). The annual complimentary dental clinic provides veterans with dental exams and treatments at no cost.
“It’s honestly the least we can do for these fine men and women who have done so much for us,” Dr. Stan said. It’s just one more example of a lifetime spirit of service that’s spanned four decades and earned Dr. Stan the inaugural Rockwall Hometown Heroes Award.
“Last year, we saw 81 veterans and brought in over 40 volunteers to help provide services,” Dr. Stan said. “It’s just another way our family can serve the families of Rockwall.”
You’re Family Here
From the beginning, Lowrance Dental has put the “family” in family dentistry. They know their patients by name and love running into them at the ballpark, church, or grocery store. Dr. Shanae joined her father in his practice in 2019 after earning her DDS from Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Dr. Leon is a family friend who also earned her degree from Texas A&M College of Dentistry. Together with their dedicated support staff, they offer cleanings, fillings, implants, wisdom tooth extraction, teeth whitening, Invisalign, root canals, ceramic crowns, and customized IV and oral sedation. Another way they serve their family of patients is through in-house memberships which allow patients to pay a monthly fee and receive free or discounted services.
After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981, Dr. Lowrance completed studies at Midwest Implant Institute of Columbus, Ohio, in 1991, where he received the Presidential Award and a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry that same year.
