Personalized Patient Care with a Collaborative Approach

In an industry where healthcare providers find themselves rushing patients in and out of appointments even as they long to spend more time with them, the team at Frisco Women’s Health can slow down and build lasting relationships with the women they treat. “The patient-physician relationship is a mutual decision-making partnership,” said Founding Physician Dr. Jonathan Weinstein. “Instead of seeing 30 or more patients a day, like most OB-GYN in the area, our schedule is capped at 20 per day to allow for longer face-to-face time with patients. This allows our patients more time to ask questions and helps form friendships that have lasted over a decade. Our providers come from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and training institutions. We harness this dynamic to collaborate on all patient care.”

Supporting Birthing Choices

Supporting natural childbirth is something Frisco Women’s Health has embraced since its inception. If you do not want to be induced or would prefer to go into labor spontaneously, they will give you every opportunity for nature to take its course.

Have you had a C-section in the past, but desire to attempt a vaginal birth (VBAC)? Come for a consultation. Most patients qualify, and when eligible, a VBAC is often successful and safe.

Do you prefer to have a cesarean section or need to schedule an elective induction for personal or family reasons? That is your decision to make, and they will be there to support you.

Want to deliver at a birth center but your baby is breech at 36 weeks (about eight and a half months)? They can help. External Cephalic Version (ECV) is a procedure to rotate your baby to the head-down position to make vaginal delivery a reality. “We get many patients who had a primary cesarean for breech presentation and were never offered an ECV as an option,” Dr. Weinstein said. “All our providers can perform an ECV. We would love to go over the benefits and alternatives with you.”

Found out you are having twins, but desire a vaginal delivery so you have the energy to take care of those newborns? You have come to the right place. Most obstetricians do not offer this as an option anymore, but if you are eligible, there is no reason you cannot have a vaginal delivery with twins.

Is your husband going to be your doula? Found a doula who is going to help make that delivery go as smoothly as possible? FWH has monthly in-office natural childbirth classes to help you prepare. Medical City Frisco and the Frisco Women’s Health team happily welcome doulas and other birthing team members into the delivery room.

You Need a Familiar Face at Your Birth, Regardless of the Time of Day

The Frisco Women’s Health group takes a unique approach to caring for their pregnant patients. At the time of your labor, delivery, and postpartum course, it is imperative you see a familiar face who knows your medical history. To achieve this each pregnant patient is cared for collectively. You will get to know each of the providers and although you may have a favorite, childbirth is often unpredictable, and familiarity brings a sense of calm — to providers and patients. “A physician you have never met should not be there on the day you give birth,” Dr. Weinstein said. “Meeting all of them over the course of your pregnancy eliminates this risk. Our group follows the standards of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologist guidelines for women’s healthcare, and you will receive a consistent message regardless of who is seeing you that day.”

The Well Woman Exam

For many women, the gynecologist is the only doctor they will see during the year. FWH gladly takes care of your yearly checkup, and when appropriate, cancer and laboratory tests. If a specialist or primary care doctor is required, they will refer you to the appropriate provider. Time for a mammogram or a screening colonoscopy, now recommended at age 45, they will point you in the right direction.

Second Opinion

Regardless of how far along you are in your pregnancy, or what another physician has recommended for your gynecologic care, FWH providers welcome anyone seeking a second opinion or just needing a doctor who will take the time to listen to their concerns and preferences and offer options.
