Selecting an orthodontist is an important
choice for you and your family. Since you or your children will be visiting
them frequently throughout treatment, it’s important to choose an
experienced, board certified orthodontist with a friendly, approachable
demeanor you feel comfortable with. The positive energy and delightful nature
of the entire team at Allen Orthodontics strives to make every patient’s
visit an enjoyable experience. Treating each patient as an extension of their
own family creates a happy, welcoming environment where parents can relax and
kids can enjoy.

“We’re a practice of two working moms who
understand the importance of family,” Dr. Tamara Jones says. “We can
prioritize our patients and our families by working together as a team.”
Their partnership allows them to dedicate their full attention to patients
while in the office as well as time to focus on their children and family
life. Allen Orthodontics is focused on convenience for busy families. The
patients enjoy 24% fewer appointments and more efficient treatment to achieve
a healthy beautiful smile easier and faster. “As partners, we co-treat our
patients, which provides consistent treatment planning that allows for
excellent results and flexible scheduling for our patients,” Dr. Jones
explains.

Meet Dr.
Jones

Dr. Jones graduated from Southern Methodist
University as a Hunt Scholar. She continued her studies at Baylor College of
Dentistry Texas A&M Health Science Center, earning her Doctor of
Dental Surgery. At 12, she chose to pursue orthodontics as her specialty and
matched at The University of Texas at Houston. After two additional years of
advanced training, she earned a master’s degree and certificate in
orthodontics. She and her veteran husband have an eight-year-old daughter and
a five-year-old son who love helping at the office. Dr. Jones has been voted
Best of Big D for the past five consecutive years by “D Magazine” and has
been nominated a mom-approved doctor by “D Child” the last seven
years.

Getting to know each child, teen, and adult
patient on a personal level is a joy for Dr. Jones. With a happy, upbeat
attitude, she looks forward to coming to work every day, helping their
patients smile with newfound confidence and striving to be a positive
influence in their lives.

Meet Dr.
Hanson

Nothing makes Dr. Hanson happier than working
alongside the Allen Orthodontics team to help her patients feel comfortable.
Prior to joining Dr. Jones in practice, she studied mechanical engineering at
The University of Texas at Austin, where she saw the light and decided to
pursue engineering smiles. She received her DDS from The University of Texas
at Houston, and, like Dr. Jones, earned a master’s degree and certificate in
orthodontics. Dr. Hanson loves combining her passion for engineering with the
opportunity to work with others in a fast-paced environment. She worked with
Dr. Jones throughout her residency training prior to joining the practice.
Dr. Hanson and her husband live in Allen and are proud new parents to an
eight-week-old daughter.

Orthodontist, Board Certified Orthodontist, Dentist –
What’s the Difference?

Some people confuse a dentist with an orthodontist,
but the two are distinctly different. The American Board of Orthodontics
certification process is — a significant step beyond the two to three years
of advanced education required for a dentist to become an orthodontist. The
process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate accomplishments in patient
care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range
of patient problems. About half of orthodontists have achieved board
certification.

What Ages Can Benefit From Braces Or
Invisalign?

The American Association of Orthodontics
recommends that every child have their first orthodontic visit at age seven.
It is rare for children to need treatment at that age, but severe issues can
be identified and corrected early and even help children breathe better.
Orthodontics is typically associated with children, but according to Dr.
Hanson, roughly 1/3 of all orthodontic patients in the United States are
adults. Whether you’re in college or decades into your career, you can still
choose to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always
wanted.

Dr. Jones and Dr. Hanson’s advanced training
makes Allen Orthodontics shine as a Top 1% Percent Invisalign Provider. They
can make Invisalign an option for most patients, which has helped many adults
solve their dental problems using subtle treatments that allow them to maintain
their current appearance and lifestyle. According to Dr. Jones, the length of
time for completion of most treatments is similar for braces and Invisalign.
Prospective patients may schedule a consultation (no referral needed!) to
determine the best option and even see a virtual plan of their planned
smile.

The Allen
Orthodontics Difference

Many dental and orthodontic practices today
are owned by large national private equity companies. Allen Orthodontics
chooses a more personalized approach. “Our practice is family-owned and
operated, allowing us to offer a unique level of personalized care,” says Dr.
Jones. “This enables us to give back to our community in various ways by
promoting charities that are important to our doctors, our team and our
patients.”

“We’re blessed to have the opportunity to
donate to a local school or charity for every new patient,” Dr. Hanson says.
Any of their patients may apply for a donation request to assist a charity of
their choice. Recent support for local community groups includes Allen High
School and the Lovejoy Drill Team. Additionally, Dr. Jones is founding a
nonprofit orthodontic assisting school, providing job skills as part of a
divorce recovery program. Both doctors also participate in Smiles Change
Lives, a program where Allen Orthodontics treats children free of charge if
their families have financial need.
