New Dual Diagnosis IOP/PHP

Heather and her team recently created an adult dual diagnosis PHP/IOP. Dual diagnosis means both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder exist at the same time. The program generally lasts eight to 10 weeks for most clients and meets Monday through Friday, 9 AM to noon (IOP), and 9 AM to 1 PM (PHP).

“Many people suffer from a combination of mental health issues and substance abuse and benefit from a treatment plan that addresses both. Often, they begin abusing substances like drugs and alcohol to try to cope with anxiety and depression, but this only further impacts their mental health. Our dual diagnosis program aims to eliminate or reduce substance abuse while improving their mental health.”

The innovative dual diagnosis IOP/PHP includes SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) recovery, an evidence-based addiction recovery approach that helps people learn the skills they need to overcome their addictions and transform their lives. “We use SMART recovery as a foundational tool, but in tailoring the treatment to the individual, we can also incorporate spirituality into the program for those seeking a spiritual component,” Heather explains.
