Dr. Shilpa, Dr. Hurd, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Joiner

Dr. Shilpa recommends seeing a pediatric
dentist, around age one or when the first tooth appears. She counsels parents
about teething pain, pacifier use, oral habits and establishing a good
bedtime routine. She spends time discussing proper brushing and flossing
techniques, the importance of cleanings and checkups, how to choose a
tooth-friendly diet, and even what kind of toothbrush and toothpaste to
use.

Dr. Shilpa continues that relationship with
her young patients as they grow. Her gentle bedside manner makes going to the

Shilpa Chandiwal

When not in the practice, Dr. Shilpa enjoys time
with her two children and her husband, Dr. Amito Chandiwal, who serves as
chief of staff at Houston Methodist West Hospital. She stays busy keeping up
with her son’s taekwondo, tennis, and guitar lessons and her daughter’s piano
and gymnastics. “Healthy Teeth Pediatric Dentistry was my dream, and I
couldn’t have done it without the support and love of my family,” says Dr.
Shilpa. “They are my biggest fans!”

In her free time, Dr. Shilpa enjoys cooking
and traveling. She’s an avid supporter of local schools, sports teams, and
