Tapping into Celina Oktoberfest

Celina Oktoberfest

Popular annual event to take over historic square

The 2nd annual Celina Oktoberfest celebration is scheduled to take place from 11 AM until 10 PM on Saturday, October 12, in the city’s historic downtown square at West Walnut and North Ohio Streets in Celina. This family friendly event will take place rain or shine.

Celina Oktoberfest will feature live performances from festive bands including The Royal Klobasneks and The Dogensteins, a tempting assortment of traditional and authentic German foods, a biergarten boasting a bountiful selection of imported and domestic craft brews, and more than two dozen merchandise vendors. The excellent eateries and retailers on Celina’s downtown square will also be open and offering exclusive specials and sales during the event.

Celina Oktoberfest will kick off with a ceremonial tapping of the keg and traditional toast. A bratwurst-eating contest, a Dachshund Derby dog race, and stein-holding and beer-pong competitions are scheduled. The day’s top college football games will be shown on a giant LED screen in the square.  Adults and children can participate in a cakewalk, Chicken Dance circles, and traditional German costume contests. Youngsters can enjoy bounce houses, pumpkin- and cookie-decorating activities, and craft workshops by Home Depot, and interact with magical unicorn ponies in the free Kids’ Zone.

Celina Oktoberfest general admission tickets are $5. Children age 12 and under will be admitted free, as will any attendee who wears traditional German attire (lederhosen or a dirndl costume) to the festival. Tickets are available for advanced purchase now at CelinaOktoberfest.com. Same-day tickets will be sold at the gate (cash only).
