After Alyssa Carman finished her college business degree, she had a young family and needed a job that provided a balance between work life and family life. Her photography hobby turned out to do just that. Her husband, Blake, encouraged her to pursue photography as a career. This gave her better control over her time, but she had no control over the Texas weather.
“I would schedule an outdoor shoot,” she says. “When the time came it might be snowing or sleeting or raining a monsoon. I love Texas but the weather often made it difficult to meet my clients’ deadlines.”
So, the Carmans purchased a lot near downtown McKinney. Lemon Drop Studios opened in August 2021.
The studio accommodates photographers and their clients with the option of two indoor studio rentals totaling 2,500 square feet plus an outdoor garden space. Alyssa also supports photographers through education and enrichment sessions, bringing in well-known pros to present workshops.
Lemon Drop Studios supports families at every stage of life, helping them record precious moments. These times range from welcoming newborns through other big milestones, and even times when they are taking what may be the last photos with people they love. Many businesses also rely on Lemon Drop for their growing visual and marketing needs. Alyssa believes this the support of families and organizations is one of the things that sets Lemon Drop Studios apart.
