Sisters Danielle Barrett and Lynley Tolleson didn’t necessarily set out to establish an award-winning design and staging firm. Like many good things, it sort of fell in their laps. For years, it had been common knowledge among their family, friends — even friends of friends — that the two North Texas gals have an eye for design and a gift for understanding the unique design style of a homeowner. The sisters work well together and even ran a popular home-decor boutique in their days before kids.

Then, six years ago as they were busy raising their families, both working full-time jobs — one as a speech pathologist, one as a full-time mom — and getting more and more requests for their design and staging services, they decided to take a leap of faith, quit their jobs, and make design their full-time work. LD Design Co. was born!

The next six years were a blur as word spread from client to client and the firm grew. They now have a team of eight, including a master color consultant, graphic designer, ASP stagers, and interior designers working under two umbrellas. The design side is all about transforming spaces to help families love the home they’re in. “We work with DFW homeowners on jobs of all sizes, from simple consultation to whole-house remodels,” Lynley said. “We value clean and comfortable living and appreciate a fun splash of character to add personality to any space, bringing it all together in a design that’s as functional as it is beautiful.”

On the staging side, they work with home sellers to prepare their home to go on the market and be as competitive as possible. “We want them to sell their home as quickly as possible for as much as possible,” Danielle said. “Here, too, we’ll do as much or as little as someone wants. We can consult with them about changes they can make themselves or we have a warehouse full of furniture, artwork, and accessories we can bring in to create a look that will attract the right buyers to their home.”

The LD Design team understands design is highly personal. “The first thing we want to do is understand the client’s vision,” Lynley said. “We spend time in their space, meeting them, and talking about how they use their home. We want to meet them where they are and then get creative in helping them achieve their design goals.”

All the designers at LD Design Co. are also moms. When not on the job, they love spending time keeping up with their kids’ activities and doing their part around the community, being involved in their churches and their kids’ school, even donating staging pieces to those in need, when they can.
