Beauty has always been Kai Watson’s passion. Licensed in cosmetology and certified in makeup artistry, she’s the manager of Sugar Land Med Spa and Salon and owner of Kai Watson Artistry. Her joyful personality coupled with her creative talent in “soft glam” looks has resulted in Living readers voting her Best Makeup Artist in Fort Bend County in 2022.
When she was a little girl, Kai remembers watching her mother get ready for the day, never leaving the house without a full face of makeup. “Mom always looked totally put together from styled hair to coordinating outfits and matching jewelry,” she says. “She enhanced her natural beauty to look and feel her best.” Kai took note and emulated her mother’s beauty philosophy.
“Most women my age don’t have makeup artists and stylists who embrace their client’s age,” says Kai. “My goal is for my clients to still look like themselves, only enhanced.” A soft glam look is her specialty, highlighting a woman’s natural beauty with professional makeup application. Kai is also a luxury hair extensions specialist. She creates professional results working with a variety of extensions, including weft, tape-in and I-tip.
Kai and her husband live in Missouri City with their three children. Originally from New York, Kai left the corporate world to realize her passion. At age 43, she graduated valedictorian at Ogle School of Hair, Skin & Nails. “It’s never too late to live your dream,” she says.
