Dr. Jacel Brooks grew up loving math and science and playing sports. The fellowship-trained, board-certified sports medicine physician was voted 2022 Best Sports Medicine Doctor in Cy-Fair, earning patient praise for his positive and friendly demeanor, personalized care, and genuine concern for their well-being.
Providing non-operative management of orthopedic/sports injuries and osteoarthritis for adults and children, Dr. Brooks uses evidence-based medicine and educates patients on treatment options and beneficial diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. “My role is like a primary care doctor for sports medicine, and my goal is to help get patients moving and back into the game without surgery, when possible,” he says, adding, “Playing sports myself and having been injured, I can relate to what my patients are going through.”
Dr. Brooks completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama Birmingham, a pediatrics residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and a sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham. He was head team physician for the University of West Alabama, a physician team member for the 2009 National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide football team, and provided sports coverage for various local teams. He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American Academy of Pediatrics, is a Certified ImPACT Provider, formerly served as team physician for Cypress Falls High School, and volunteers for Houston area sporting events.
