Larry’s Lake House

Larry’s Lake House might seem like an unusual name for an assisted living facility. But when you walk in the door of either their Katy or Fulshear locations you feel something you don’t normally feel at an assisted living facility. You feel like you’re home. Larry’s is what is known as residential assisted living, which is a full-fledged assisted living experience in a residential home in a neighborhood.
There’s another aspect that sets Larry’s Lake House apart: the care. Because each house only has eight residents it is a much more intimate setting and the care provided is much more personalized. The ratio of residents to caregiving staff is four to one, significantly lower than in larger traditional facilities. The staff includes a full-time cook, Ms. Nikita, who consults residents on the ever-changing menu and Ms. Tracey, the highly acclaimed house manager, who spends her days checking on residents and is in non-stop communication with the residents’ families.
Services at Larry’s Lake House include three meals a day plus snacks, laundry and housekeeping, a gated neighborhood, lake front views, daily enrichment activities and medication assistance. At a higher level of care residents can benefit from medication management and administration, palliative and hospice care, a mental health and wellness program, Cpap assistance, weekly hairdresser visits, podiatry, dentistry, and more.
Justin Hardman, one of the owners, tells the story of having a conversation with a resident named Marilyn who mentioned she was hungry in the mid-afternoon.
“Before we even finished our conversation,” he says, “a hand appeared over her shoulder with a boiled egg in it. One of our wonderful caregivers, Ms. Christiana, had heard Marilyn and me speaking and knew Marilyn liked boiled eggs, so she took the initiative and filled the need immediately.
Larry’s is a true community where we really know and love our residents and their families,” Justin says, “and we care for them like our own. We don’t want our residents to have to wait 45 minutes or an hour when they need something.”
Not only does the Larry’s Lake House staff create a safe and comfortable environment for their residents, but they also serve the community at large. When families reach out looking for assisted living for their loved one, Larry’s Lake House is often full. But Justin and his staff will take the time to talk with the family, understand their situation, and help them find what they’re looking for.
“Families feel overwhelmed and we take the time to help them find a place, even if it’s not with us,” Justin says. “We help families every day.”
Voted by Living readers as the Best Assisted Living facility in Fulshear and Katy, Larry’s Lake House has the respect and appreciation of the local community. If you’re looking for the right place for your loved one, a place with outstanding care that feels like home, Larry’s Lake House is just what you’re looking for.
“Families feel overwhelmed and we take the time to help them find a place, even if it’s not with us. We help families every day.”
