At Brazos Pain Management, Dr. Wilson Almonte and Dr. Ted Lin offer procedure-based solutions to alleviate the suffering caused by daily pain. They treat conditions such as arthritis, cancer pain, post-surgical pain, neuralgia/chronic pain due to shingles, and much more.
Dr. Almonte has seen the problems that sometimes arise with the prescription of heavy painkillers and from invasive surgeries. So, he and Dr. Lin have developed a procedure-based approach using less-invasive treatments to alleviate the chronic pain that can destroy function and quality of life.
When you enter their attractive and comfortable suite of offices, you will be welcomed by knowledgeable and experienced staff who make it their business to stay up to date on easing pain for each and every patient.
“We offer physician-led care,” Dr. Almonte says. “Each patient will see a physician at every visit. We get to know our patients well and tailor an individual treatment plan for each one.”
These physicians take the time to get to know their patients and will craft an individualized treatment plan to get to the heart of the issue and resolve the problems. Then they take the time to talk with patients, sharing each step of the plan, explaining the details and the expected outcomes.

Dr. Almonte has been practicing in the southeast Texas area since 2013. He completed his undergraduate education at New York University, followed by his medical degree at Penn State University College of Medicine, and went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at Montefiore Medical Center, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is board certified in both pain management and anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
It was a move to Houston in 2013 for a fellowship in pain medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center that confirmed him as a Texan. As a native New Yorker, he appreciated the milder weather, and the kindness of the natives motivated him to establish his pain management practice in Victoria in 2015 and his office in Sugar Land in 2016.
Dr. Ted Lin joined the practice in 2019. He received his bachelor of business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He studied medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, including an anesthesiology residency and a fellowship in pain management.
Dr. Almonte’s father suffered from very painful metastatic cancer. He saw how this pain impacted his father’s quality of life and his family. This experience led him to wonder how he could help.

Dr. Almonte knew early in his training that helping patients with their pain would become his specialty. During his residency fellowship at MD Anderson, he worked with patients with chronic pain due to cancer. He was able to witness firsthand how treating these patients’ pain greatly improved their quality of life as well as the quality of life of their families.
Dr. Almonte’s and Dr. Lin’s goal is to relieve suffering for everyone who walks in their practice door, restoring quality of life and return to a patient’s regular activities.
One patient came to Dr. Almonte after surgery for a fractured left ankle. She suffered from chronic nerve pain and CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome.) She had tried many solutions, including nerve medication and topical pain relief but nothing had really helped. She developed difficulty walking and had to use a wheelchair and a walker, practically homebound.
Dr. Almonte treated her with a spinal cord stimulator, a minimally invasive procedure where electrodes placed near the spinal cord deliver electrical impulses to block pain signals. This procedure changed her life dramatically, allowing her to walk without assistance, restoring independence, function, and quality of life.
“These are the kinds of outcomes we strive for,” says Dr. Almonte. “We have helped a wide range of patients with arthritic pain, cancer pain, spinal pain, and more.”
One procedure often used to treat pain from vertebral fractures due to osteoporosis and other conditions, called kyphoplasty, involves inserting a balloon into a small incision in the back. When the balloon inflates, it creates a space then filled with a cement-like material. Often done under local anesthesia, this procedure can offer rapid and sustained pain relief as well as the restoration of the natural height and shape of the vertebrae.

Since moving into their new location on Tarrington Avenue in Sugar Land, Brazos Pain Management can offer care in an even more attractive and welcoming atmosphere. You can trust that this team devotes many hours to staying up to date on the cutting edge of pain treatment, attending educational sessions and absorbing many printed pages of information. They want to be able to offer every possible option to their patients to relieve their pain.
Brazos Pain Management boasts its own in-office procedure suite. This means patients don’t have to travel to another facility for their procedures, saving time and money and allowing patients to receive their treatment in the place where they feel comfortable with staff they know and trust.
They have also recently added physical therapy services to make sure their patients can regain strength and reach their highest potential for physical activity and pain relief. Physical therapy can provide several benefits in combating pain such as alleviating stiffness and pain in the muscles and joints, building muscle strength for better joint support, and helping the brain and muscles work together more effectively. It can even boost endorphins, the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals.
With doctors committed to relieving pain, a dedicated procedure site and physical therapy services for any who need them, Brazos Pain Management strives to fulfill its goal to help as many as possible overcome debilitating pain and regain their lives with functionality and a vibrant quality of life.
