At Prosper Trail Orthodontics, orthodontist James VandeBerg wants to make sure each patient is thrilled with their smile. The results of creating a gorgeous, healthy grin can change a person’s level of self-confidence and comfort, but many are unaware of which factors to consider when exploring the possibility of wearing braces or aligners. The investment in such treatment can be significant, however, and the decision is an important one.

To help those curious about orthodontic treatment for themselves or their children, the doctor shared his advice. He made a solid case for visiting an orthodontist, whose years of specialized study above and beyond that of a general dentist allow them to tailor a perfect plan for each individual patient with high confidence.

With 20 years of experience, Dr. VandeBerg has mentored, coached, and employed over 25 orthodontists, with five still in active mentorship today. He has previously owned over a dozen practices, but currently, is the sole orthodontist at Prosper Trail Orthodontics, which is now his only practice. His office hopes to save each patient some money, some time, and a whole lot of trouble with their guidance.

Great Fees, Better Service

While orthodontic treatment isn’t free, it doesn’t have to be a financial burden. After decades of running practices and treating patients, Prosper Trail Orthodontics is Dr. VandeBerg’s opportunity to be a service to the community. By providing free consultations and keeping their fees lower than the average for the area, he believes he can provide better access to the life-changing transformation that orthodontic treatment can provide. With low down payments and in-house interest-free financing, Prosper Trail Orthodontics bends over backwards to remove the financial obstacles that could prevent someone from pursuing treatment.

While they work hard to make it easy on each patient’s pocketbook, the clinic never skimps on service. Everyone who walks through the doors of Prosper Trail Orthodontics is treated like family, with respect and attention to patient comfort. Moreover, Dr. VandeBerg has worked hard to cherry pick the best of the best in team members to deliver the level of care that his patients deserve. Prosper Trail Orthodontics team members pride themselves on respecting patients’ time by bringing patients to the examination and treatment rooms as soon as they sign in, keeping appointment times short, and delivering warm, compassionate care every step of the way.

Communication

Prosper Trail Orthodontics believes in over-communication. Parents are encouraged to sit with their child at every appointment to get as much time with the team as possible and to be informed as much as possible. Each appointment is seen as an opportunity to update the patient and parents on the progress of treatment and any changes to the original treatment plan.

In addition, Dr. VandeBerg believes that strong provider relationships lead to better overall dental care, so Prosper Trail Orthodontics regularly keeps their patients’ dentists in the loop on their treatment. From the first complimentary consultation to the last retainer check, multiple updates are sent to local dentists every day. These updates include information about what is happening with patients’ care and how the dentist can support their patients’ orthodontic treatment. As a courtesy to their patients and the dentist, patients at Prosper Trail have the option to have their wires removed for their regular cleaning at the dentist and replaced later that day.

To further enhance patient care, Prosper Trail Orthodontics has an oral surgeon in the office every Friday for wisdom teeth removal and other surgical procedures. By having an oral surgeon in the same office, patients can enjoy a comforting, familiar setting with the team they are already acquainted with rather than go somewhere unfamiliar. This small accommodation can make a big difference, especially for those with a strong preference for known environments.

Strengthening Community Ties

Sensory friendliness for patients with special needs makes Prosper Trail Orthodontics a truly responsive, connected, and compassionate office. With three children of his own, the youngest of whom is 13 and has autism, Dr. VandeBerg has an intimate understanding of the challenges many parents face. Prosper Trail Orthodontics offers visits during times when the office is quieter because for some, it may be the only way they can receive orthodontic treatment. Lunchtime and after-hours visits can create the most hospitable space for a child with sensory needs. To make his office as accommodating as possible, the orthodontist encourages patients to visit and let him know how he can meet their child’s sensory needs through such appointments.

The energy put toward promoting a culture of going the extra mile to please patients focuses the Prosper office on the right efforts. “Everyone is different and has different needs,” said the practice owner. “We treat them accordingly.”

Spanish language learning also makes the doctor stand out among his competitors. “Growing up in San Antonio, I took Spanish for five years in school. I also saw patients in South Texas for almost 20 years. A lot of those parents speak Spanish, so I got a lot of practice. I can talk about teeth and orthodontics in Spanish, and I consider myself fluent,” he said.

Friendly Faces

The sole orthodontist at Prosper Trail Orthodontics, Dr. VandeBerg is eager to meet the community of patients of all ages. He encourages them to ask questions, take notes, and share their histories with him. As a top provider of dental healthcare in the area, the doctor is proud to share his expertise, time, and energy in a complimentary consultation with anyone who walks through his doors. By helping educate his patients about why they should keep their standards high in looking for care, offering special services where possible, and always doing his best to set a tone for patient-centered care, this orthodontist is holding the line for the only type of care he believes in: the best there is.
